Taylor Swift made history for her birthday this year. Newly 35 as of December 13, the pop icon was named as the artist with the most Billboard Music Awards on her shelf.
This year alone, she’s been graced with multiple awards, including top artist, top female artist, top Hot 100 songwriter, top Billboard album, and several more, bringing the tally up to 10 awards in one night. With those ten awards, her Billboard Music Award totals are at 49 over her 18-year career.
Her closest competition would be Drake, who holds 39 awards. Country artist Morgan Wallen took home four awards, bringing his total to 19, just one award shy of besting country legend Garth Brooks. Shaboozy, Bad Bunny, and Beyonce all received an award, with the latter winning in the country music category for the first time in her career. Her total landed 17 awards.
Swift, who just finished an epic run with her Eras Tour this past weekend, sent a thank you message to her supportive fans, “Everything that’s happened with the Eras Tour and The Tortured Poet’s Department, I just have to say thank you, it means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things I’ve made, you know, and the fact that you’ve cared so much about my music. This is like, the nicest early birthday present you could have given me, so thank you very much. I love it. It’s exactly what I wanted.”
Swift also reigns over Spotify‘s year-end list as their Top Artist for 2024. She is the most-streamed artist globally, generating more than 26 billion streams.
Fresh off her Eras Tour, Swift and her boyfriend of nearly 2 years, Travis Kelce, enjoyed some downtime with a stop at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She took pictures with the young patients, signed autographs and even FaceTimed family members who weren’t able to be there in person.
The Eras Tour is the biggest-selling tour of all time, spanning 149 shows and bringing in over $2 billion in sales. Recently, Swift gave a generous bonus to the team behind the scenes, which helped bring her tour to life every night. The singer doled out $197 million in bonuses to truck drivers and caterers to lighting, sound and dancers. She just recently released a collectible book available through Target that features over 500 photographs of her time on the road, including behind-the-scenes and insight from Swift about her historic tour.
