It’s not blonde, not brunette, but a beautiful in-between that makes your hair look healthy and low-key rich with its chic, natural look.
Hair experts forecast it to be one of the top hair color trends in 2025, and celebrities from Megan Thee Stallion and Taylor Swift to Jennifer Lopez are sporting their individual takes on the trend.
What’s driving the bronde hair craze?
Bronde hair is universally flattering.
For hair that’s naturally darker, bronde delivers a more subtle regrowth with no harsh lines near the roots. For blondes, going bronde is a popular way to ease off the bleach and look more natural. Bronde is even an option for covering gray hair.
For curly hair, a bronde makeover will make darker and lighter shades more visible, giving the hair more overall dimension. Straight hair works best with a more sun-kissed bronde, with highlights spaced further apart.
It’s low maintenance (less expensive).
Bronde blends more gently with blonde hair so there are less frequent salon visits needed. Plus, it saves time, some experts even saying you can double your time between salon appointments. And it even looks low-maintenance — bronde hair tells the world you’re not trying too hard.
Senior Colorist Sara Cassidy says that while bronde is the cutting edge hair trend for 2025, she believes it started in 2020 with COVID. “When people couldn’t do their hair at a salon during COVID, many left theirs alone more until they could get to an expert colorist,” Sara stated.
We’re influenced by celebrities.
We all want what they have, especially when it’s affordable. Celebrities are our tastemakers. We want to be honey blonde like Beyonce or dark blond like Hailey Bieber. Making a permanent change can be scary, so you can start with a few face-farming highlights and go from there. Subtle changes also minimize damage and are easier on your budget.
Bronding is seasonless and flexible.
In Spring and Summer, brunettes often want to add warmer tones so their skin looks less pale. Style website Byrdie says it’s like bronzing your hair. In fall and winter, blondes may want to tone down their color for depth and sophistication.
How do you care for your bronde locks?
Start by choosing the blend of blonde and brunette that works best for your skin color, whether it’s warm or cool. Experts say to talk with your color expert to get the perfect blend for you. To keep your bronde hair looking fresh-from-the-stylist vibrant you’ll want to use quality hair products, avoiding pigmented shampoos and conditioners. Keep your hair moisturized for longer-lasting color; using a hair mask once a week is a good way to do this. And be sure to add heat-protectant to your hair before using blow-dryers or hot tools.
