Justin Timberlake gets arrested earlier this week for driving while intoxicated
After having one drink with a female friend(so he said), the Daily Mail reported that Justin Timberlake was pulled over on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
As a solo artist, the 10-time Grammy Award-winning superstar has sold over 54 million albums worldwide and another 70 million records as a former group member of the boy band NSYNC. But none of that would stop the producer/singer/songwriter/actor from being detained. It may be because the arresting officer did not know who Timberlake was.
It was reported by CBS News, that Justin told the arresting officer that he had only “one martini, and was following his friends home.” However, he refused to take a breathalyzer test. Justin was arrested Tuesday, July 19, in Long Island’s Sag Harbor. Police said that at 12:37 a.m., Mr. Timberlake was driving a grey BMW, and allegedly drove through a stop sign.
The arresting officer said that Timberlake was “in an intoxicated condition” and that “his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath,” and he “performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests.”
On March 15, Timberlake released his sixth solo album titled, Everything I Thought It Was. The album has 18 tracks. The singer’s Forget Tomorrow World Tour kicked off on April 29 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The songwriter has not toured in five years.
Stuart Derdeyn of the Vancouver Sun, said that the two-hour plus show was more of a southern R&B sound in comparison to Justin’s previous electronically tinged work. Derdeyn hailed that the show was the best the “singer has ever played in Vancouver.”
“It’s been a tough week.” That’s what Justin said to his fans at the United Center in Chicago last night as he resumed his tour after his DWI arrest last week. The New York Post reported that after cheers from his fans, he reportedly said, “I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me and I love you right back.”
This arrest comes on the heels of Justin facing a lot of public criticism and backlash from fans, over Britney Spear’s memoir, The Woman In Me. It was released in October 2023. In the memoir, Spears writes about her pregnancy with Justin Timberlake and the subsequent abortion she felt forced to have.
She pens, “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”
She continued on, “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.” Britney also wrote that she could not have imagined choosing that for herself, but given the circumstances, that is “what we did.”
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it.” “And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” the star shared. Fans were upset with Justin Timberlake after that revelation from Spears.
Post-Justin Timberlake’s arrest on Tuesday, Britney Spears fans have started back up again. Dragging Justin Timberlake all over social media. Britney Spears fans are not the only people upset with Justin Timberlake though. So are Jessica Simpson fans, who have accused Timberlake of body-shaming Jessica. Also mad at Timberlake are Janet Jackson fans. Feeling that Justin left Janet Jackson to alone take all of the fallout from the 2004 Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show.
During the performance with Janet Jackson, Justin accidentally ripped off part of Janet’s clothing and exposed her bare nipple. The public was incensed, parents were angry that children watching were exposed to that, and as a result of the outrage, several lawsuits were spawned.
There was major backlash. Janet Jackson was relentlessly shamed. Again, fans of mega superstar Janet Jackson, felt that she caught the brunt of the fallout, and Justin Timberlake publicly took no responsibility. He was seen as skating through the criticism and bouncing back quickly. However, most feel that Janet’s career took a dip that she has never fully recovered from.
One post on X(formerly Twitter) read: “It’s pretty great that “hating Justin Timberlake” brings so many people together. People who love Janet Jackson. People who love Britney Spears. Millennials who resented the body shaming of Jessica Simpson. Who else am I missing; what other women did he screw over?”
Janet Jackson has stated that it was an accident, and that it wasn’t Timberlake’s fault. Timberlake has apologized to Brittany and Janet publicly. In an Instagram Post he wrote, “I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond,” he wrote.
“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”
Can we talk about the mugshot trend that I think former President Donald Trump has started? Celebrities are putting their mugshots on T-shirts. Justin Timberlake’s mugshot T-shirts are already for sale on Etsy. He looks camera-ready.
