Halsey Fans Say They Must Be ‘Protected’ After Singer Reveals Health Struggles

Grammy nominated singer Halsey is laying it all out on the table as she no longer hides what has been affecting her from her fans.

Yesterday the singer-songwriter seemingly confessed to their 31.4 million followers on Instagram that she had been secretly battling lupus, a disease in which the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs.

Included in Halsey’s Instagram post from Tuesday were videos of them receiving treatment in a hospital for her illness. Also shared in the post was a clip of them at home massaging her legs, seemingly trying to soothe the symptoms of her sickness.

“I feel like an old lady. I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. … I’m having a rebirth, and I’m not going to be sick, and I’m going to look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m just going to get to redo my twenties in my thirties,” the 29-year-old entertainer said in the snippet of her at home.

Placed at the end of the post was a video of Halsey recording their new song The End from their upcoming fifth studio album.

“Long story short, i’m Lucky to be alive. short story long, i wrote an album,” the 29-year-old entertainer captioned. “It begins with The End. out now.” They also tagged the Instagram accounts of the the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the end of her caption. Both organizations are getting a donation from Halsey, The Daily Beast reported.

The End details Halsey’s struggle with lupus, and how they feel like they have been “racing against time” ever since they were diagnosed with the illness.

“Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain,” Halsey can be heard singing in the acoustic ballad.

“Later in the song, Halsey touches on her apparent near-death illness when she sings, “When I met you, I said I would never die / But the joke was always mine, ’cause I’m racing against time.”

Fans are showering Halsey with support all over X, fka Twitter.

“Halsey reveals she was diagnosed with lupus and leukemia in new social media post documenting her journey. Just praying for her speedy recovery she’s the best girl must protect,” one X user wrote. “LOVE YOU HALSEY WE LOVE YOU HALSEY GET WELL SOON HALSEY.”

“This poor f**king woman has been through so much. Lupus & leukemia all while raising a child. God I love you Halsey, you are so strong,” another added.

“Halsey being diagnosed with lupus and leukemia and genuinely thinking she was/is going to die within the past/upcoming few years after she became a mother with her rainbow baby….my heart is so heavy. her health/wellbeing is at the forefront of my thoughts right now,” someone else mentioned.

Halsey has been very forthcoming with their health struggles over the years. In 2016 they revealed their endometriosis diagnosis, and in 2022 they announced that they developed a range of health conditions following the birth of their son Ender in 2021. These health conditions Halsey developed were Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, Sjogren’s syndrome and mast cell activation syndrome.
