Presley Gerber’s, son of businessman Randy Gerber and supermodel Cindy Crawford, died last month due to cardiac arrest and an apparent overdose at a rehab facility.
Clooney George, who is Rande’s business partner in the tequila brand Casamigos, made his comments on Gerber’s tragic death while in London.
Clooney noted that Gerber’s death is “the worst thing that can ever happen to a family,” explaining, “I don’t think it’s… we’re even in the position of being able to talk about it.”
According to a source who told PEOPLE, Clooney and his wife, Amal, are reportedly “taking shifts” with the Gerbers so that “they aren’t alone” in the wake of Presley’s death. It was also reported that George “has always been very close with both Kaia and Presley.”
Presley Gerber, who is also the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber, was said to be undergoing treatment in a rehab facility in California, where he died.
According to reports, Gerber, 27, was seen filming himself entering the rehab facility, hours before he died. Gerber was also reportedly under the influence when admitted to the facility, despite the facility not admitting people when intoxicated.
TMZ previously reported that Gerber’s doctor allegedly prescribed him ketamine despite knowing about his history of addiction.
The rehab facility, Resolutions Living, is reportedly owned by a certain Reza Nabavi. According to records cited by PageSix and other news outlets, Nabavi had two drug-related arrests in 2002 and initially encountered problems obtaining professional registration for his psychology practice because of his criminal history.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled Gerber’s place of death as a rehabilitation facility. California authorities, however, reportedly said Resolutions Living is not licensed as a residential substance-use disorder treatment facility.
Gerber’s reportedly checked in at the Santa Monica facility hours before his death on Sunday, September 19.
Reports revealed a source who knew and worked with Presley at Cafe Habana, a restaurant co-owned by his father, Rande Gerber. According to the source, they would have “deep, very open talks” during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The source also described Presley as a “great kid” who was “super nice,” noted that the model seemed troubled by issues that went beyond growing up as the son of famous parents.
Another source who worked previously with Rande Gerber also commented on Presley’s mental health struggles. “Some people are just born like that. That’s their path.”
Presley, who was also a model, has been vocal about his past struggles with mental illness and substance abuse, frequently documenting his struggles through his “Mental Health Mondays” social media series to raise awareness and give wellness tips, encouraging others who might be suffering the same.
