*NSYNC Members Skip Joey Fatone’s Broadway Show For Justin Timberlake

Certain members of 90s chart-topping boy band *NSYNC had to choose between Joey Fatone or Justin Timberlake.

Fatone debuting on Broadway is a big deal but apparently not big enough for the rest of the members to attend. Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick all opted to go see JT’s show in California instead.

In a recent Instagram post, Bass shared a photo of the guys backstage after Timberlake’s show with the caption “In honor of Joey’s Broadway debut tonight we had a date night without him.”

Of course, this is all in good fun. The guys have a close relationship and it seems that the timing just wouldn’t work for them to be in NYC. Fatone responded in the comments as well as posting his own version of the photo, with a photoshopped image of himself. Appearing on what we can assume is a toilet, Fatone’s updated picture shows him seated with his pants around his ankles. “Thank you Chris for putting me in the photo. It is perfect! I was definitely there in spirit! May the flush be with you all!”

Some three thousand miles away, Fatone enjoyed his opening night onstage for & Juliet as the role of Lance. The show is a reimagining of the William Shakespeare classic Romeo & Juliet featuring pop music from decades past, including *NSYNC’s number one hit It’s Gonna Be Me.

The show has been on Broadway for over five years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards. This isn’t his first time on a Broadway stage, however. Fatone appeared in Rent in 2016 and again in Little Shop Of Horrors in 2004. Timberlake is on the road for his Forget Tomorrow world tour in support of his 6th studio album. He wraps up the tour in July of this year after finishing nearly 120 shows.

Pop fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for an *NSYNC reunion for some time now. The band broke up in early 2002, and from then on Timberlake went on to have a massively successful career. Inklings of a reunion popped up when the guys appeared onstage to present Taylor Swift with her VMA for Best Pop Video in September 2023.

Even Swift herself was a bit flustered as she accepted the award, hinting that she too would like to see something more from the band. They made a surprise appearance, performing a song during Timberlake’s Los Angeles show in March of 2024. But fans still wait as nothing concrete has been announced. Their direct competition, the Backstreet Boys, has seen great success in their ongoing career.

BSB never really disbanded and enjoyed a successful run in Las Vegas for their two-year long residency, which ended in 2019.
