Trisha Paytas Is Headed To Broadway, For Real This Time

Trisha is known to be a YouTuber with over 5.1 million subscribers, often going viral for her vlogs, her catchphrases, mukbangs, and music covers such as Beetlejuice, and Wicked.

She recently gave TODAY.com a behind-the-scenes look as she prepared for rehearsal to make her dreams come true.

“It’s the perfect blend of everything — it’s a little bit Trish, and it’s a lot of bit Broadway.” Paytas told TODAY.com in an interview. 

“Thats why I’m losing my voice” Paytas said during rehearsals. 

Trisha Paytas’ Big Broadway Dream is a one-night, 90-minute production that not only featured celebrities such as Joy Woods serving as the show’s narrator but Broadway legends, such as Sutton Foster, Ben Platt and Rachel Ziegler. 

“So I’ve been just taking it all in because it’s even more than I imagined. I saw the finale, and I was just like crying because I didn’t think this was, like, possible.” Patyas told TODAY.com. 

This production took place at St. James Theatre on February 3, around 8 p.m., where Patyas performed in front of 1700 people and was also live-streamed worldwide. 

The internet sensation made references to her YouTube videos and did onstage podcast style like interviews with Foster, Zegler, and Platt, who played as ghosts coupled with songs such as Hamilton, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, and Mamma Mia!

The one-night-only production also dove into her mind with a lot of meme-worthy callbacks, and it borrowed elements from A Christmas Carol. Just a few months prior, Trisha Patyas made a small cameo on a late show such as Saturday Night Live in the episode called Spotify wrapped 

Her vision for making Broadway came from an idea stemming from an April Fools joke less than a year ago. Producer of Trisha Paytas Broadway Dream, Kobe Kassal, wrote some silly articles for his website for April Fools Day. In 2024, he published an article saying that Paytas would make her debut on Broadway in Chicago that summer, playing Roxie.

Paytas came across his article and reposted it to all her social media platforms, egging it on, and it quickly went viral. 

“It was just believable enough where I thought people would get a kick out of it, but we made it very, very clear that it was not true,” Kassal said. 

However, people proceeded to buy tickets for the dates, assuming that she would be in Chicago. Seeing how the fans responded by buying tickets, he and another Broadway producer, George Strus, came up with the idea, and since April, they’ve been working with her and her team to make her Broadway musical. 

All net proceeds from the show goes towards those in the entertainment industry who were affected by the Los Angeles fires, according to Kassal. 

“This is wild, this is crazy, this is literally my dreams. I feel like it’s not real, I want to pinched.” Said Patyas at the Broadway.
