Moulin Rouge, also known as the Tony award-winning musical, is continuing and going strong, but with a twist. Bob the Drag Queen is making their Broadway debut in January 2026.
Also known as Caldwell Tidicue, the non-binary comedian and actor has achieved considerable success in their career. Bob the Drag Queen, who prefers the pronouns “he/she,” won an award, such as the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar, in season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Additionally, he received other awards, including the Peabody Award, GLAAD Media Award, and Television Academy honors.
His podcast, Sibling Rivalry, has also received awards, including the Queerty Award and the GLAAD Award for outstanding broadcast. Bob the Drag Queen appeared in other shows, such as the third season of The Traitors, and became a master of ceremonies for Madonna’s Celebration Tour.
He also had his own comedy tour and specials, including “Woke Man in a Dress.” He also wrote novels, such as Harriet Tubman Live In Concert, and became a New York Times bestseller.
Playing the role of Harold Ziegler, the performer will begin on January 27, 2026, and run through March 22, 2026, for an eight-week engagement at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
The current actor playing Harold is Emmy winner Wayne Brady, who was recognized for his roles in The Wiz and Let’s Make a Deal. Brady will continue their role up until November 9. From then on, Robert Petkoff will take over the role from November 11 to January 25, 2026.
“Being on Broadway has always been a dream of mine. I moved to NYC almost 17 years ago to pursue it. Some roads take a while,” Bob the Drag Queen said in a statement.
Moulin Rouge! It is a musical based on the 2001 film, which first appeared on Broadway in 2019 during a Boston tryout.
The successful production was nominated for 14 Tony Awards back in 2020 and won 10 in total, including Best Musical.
Directed by Alex Timbers and written by John Logan, the production’s choreography was done by Sonia Tayeh. Songs that are part of this production include Firework by Katy Perry and Chandelier by Sia.
The story’s premise is a tragic love story between Satine and Christian. Whereas a young Englishman in Paris has deep feelings for Satine, however, in the story, Satine waits for the Duke.
