Victoria’s Secret Blowout, during the show last month, brought a new twist to hair. The style focuses on bounce and root volume. People have struggled to replicate its masterful results.
Given the complicated nature of the hairdo, Danielle Louise, a fashion and beauty expert from Fresha, the online AI booking and wellness platform, has given out some ideas on how to accomplish the same results as the pros.
According to them, a key component is to let hair cool before taking out the rollers. She explained, “[I]f the hair is still warm, you’re releasing it before it has finished setting. Leaving each section supported while it cools helps give that bend and volume a better chance of lasting.”
Glimpse search data analysed by Fresha shows that searches for “bombshell hair” have risen 87% over the past year, reaching an estimated 24,000 in October.
The data also showed roughly 7,000 searches each for “90s blowout,” which increased by 3%, and “bouncy blow dry.” This had been reported to have no change whatsoever in Glimpse searches.
Danielle gave further advice on how to achieve the look, “Think about where you want the volume to sit. Lift sections away from the scalp as you blow-dry, then support that shape as the hair cools. If you want height at the crown, that area needs attention during styling.”
Another key component is about how people are fitting the sections of their hair. As Danielle shared, “You should be able to wrap the hair without it spilling over either end. Work through it methodically. For that sweeping shape around the face, roll the front sections away from your face.”
From there, weight can affect the finish, with her adding, “Use heat protection according to its instructions and choose your styling products around your hair type. If your hair is easily weighed down, be careful about layering several products before you have even started drying it.”
Tim Scott-Wright, Schwarzkopf Professional Blondme Ambassador & Educator, and owner of The Hair Surgery, Stourbridge mentioned on his Instagram the coolness of the new style.
He commented that he loved the look, calling it a “…[R]eal full-circle moment, with that 90s glam back on the runway.”
While there are a multitude of other hairstyles that are sensations sweeping the nation, this is a unique one in that it has a very specific look that takes some more skill and effort to replicate than it appears at first glance.
It is worth noting that one must be careful with this style as the heat involved in achieving the look has the ability to damage hair, causing brittleness as well as dryness.
While some celebrities are more focused on hair health, others, such as Sabrina Carpenter are not afraid to plunge hair first into the hairdo.
