Avatar: Fire and Ash have finally been released to the press ahead of the movie’s release later this month. People are calling the third movie the “ultimate cinematic spectacle that pushes visuals and emotions to new heights.”
Critics such as Courtney Howard on X praised the new movie, writing that it reminds her of what “movie theaters are built for.”
“Three films in, James Cameron still has the sauce, making the epic spectacular, feel emotionally impactful, a glorious saga, bold, brilliant, and awesome. In every way this is what movie theaters were built for, ” Courtney wrote.
Sean Tajipour had the same opinion, stating that Cameron “continues to push boundaries with every frame.”
“I may not be the biggest Avatar Super fan, but Avatar Fire, and Ash prove once again that James Cameron can, and we always deliver the ultimate cinematic spectacle, pushing visuals and emotions to new heights and red fighting. What a true blockbuster feels like: it’s bold, immersive, unforgettable, and driven by sheer ambition, he wrote.
Perri Nemiroff, a Collider correspondent, stated on X that “ three films in and I still can’t get over how magical the Avatar movies are. I wish I had more original phrasing, but this applies too well to Avatar fire, and Ash truly feels like a ride. I couldn’t believe how quickly I was pulled back into the world of Pandora and swept up in the situation. And once that happens, there’s a noticeable increase in complexity, and quite a few aspects of the production.”
Another film buff, Michael Lee, wrote on X and stated that the story has a lot to be desired, but he overall appreciated the visuals and action.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash is a huge visual spectacle, especially in 3-D A deeper exploration of Pandora and new tribes allows for immense world-building. Story may be lacking, but this pushes technical boundaries in unimaginable ways,” Lee wrote.
This film picks up from the events of 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water, which ended with the deaths of characters Jake Sully and Neytiri’s Son, Neteyam. This installment will feature Sully’s family as they grieve their loss, while a new threat emerges from the fire tribe. A group of volcano dwellers that Varang leads. Returning characters, such as Sam Warrington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet.
When it comes to discussing the future of the Avatar franchise, Cameron states that it all depends on how the movie performs at the box office during the holidays. The previous Avatar movie, The Way of Water, grossed over 2.3 billion, while the original Avatar remains the highest-grossing movie of all time with 2.9 billion. The third installment will be released in theatres on December 19.
