All About Upcoming ‘Percy Jackson and The Olympians’ Season 3

At the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Disney released the first teaser for Season 3 of the hit series Percy Jackson and The Olympians, announcing that it will begin streaming on November 20 of this year. 

This season is based on the third book in the series, The Titan’s Curse. The teaser showed 17-year-old Walker Scobell, who plays the role of Percy, bearing the weight of the world. Scobell told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s definitely our darkest season yet.” 

Many fans reacted to the teaser in YouTube comments with excitement that the series is finally receiving an adaptation that is more faithful to the story of the books. The original movies, produced by 20th Century Fox in the early 2010s, were heavily criticized for not following the plot.

In 2020, author Rick Riordan went online to share his unhappiness with the movies. People reported at the time that he tweeted, “Well, to you guys, it’s a couple hours entertainment. To me, it’s my life’s work going through a meat grinder when I pleaded with them not to do it.” 

The first two seasons received mixed but mostly positive, and now Titan’s Curse will come alive for the first time ever on the big screen. According to an interview last year with TV Insider, Riordan said, “It’s unbelievable, honestly. I didn’t think we would ever get to this point.”

The teaser did draw some dissatisfaction from fans on Reddit, who thought the promotion looked “low-budget” and “like a Disney Channel show.” Another commented, “Mmm… I don’t want to be that person but Percy doesn’t look like he’s struggling to hold that sky.”

In a recent interview with IMDB, the cast members discussed how they felt about their characters, stunts, and filming. In another interview, they talked about the similarities and differences of Greek mythology interpretations in Percy Jackson versus Christopher Nolan’s recent blockbuster The Odyssey.

It’s important to note that the season will drop on the same day as another installment in a young adult book series – The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping prequel film hits theaters November 20. The day prior, the long-awaited and highly anticipated game GTA 6 will also come out. Fans will certainly have no shortage of entertainment this fall.
