Snoop Dogg is one of the most influential rappers, and now he’s finally going to have his own biopic.
It was recently announced that he will have his own biopic in theaters in August 2027. This theatrical release has a lot of expectations and anticipation about what the movie will include about Snoop Dogg’s life.
One of the important things people are predicting is his friendship with Martha Stewart and his romantic story with his wife, Shante Broadus.
There has been much speculation about who will play portray Snoop Dogg in the movie. According to Metro Entertainment, Jonathan Daviss is set to play him in the upcoming movie. Social media has erupted over the upcoming film, as many have commented their thoughts on the Snoop Dogg biopic.
“Jonathan Daviss, finally getting his big breakout and recognition he deserves outside of Outer Banks,” One netizen said.
Other people in the comment section seem to agree, saying how similar they look and how good of an actor Daviss is.
“This made me realize how similar they look,” another comment said.
“Finally good actors getting recognition,” someone else added.
Despite all the positive comments on the other side of the spectrum, others expressed disappointment.
“I am not the biggest fan of biopics, but when they are done right, I will applaud them. The only problem I have with them is that a lot of them are straight-up propaganda, like they will idolize a person we do not know, and the story is completely fabricated,” a TikTok creator mentioned.
Snoop Dogg’s biopic has been years in the making, and a production he’s hinted at over a decade ago.
“Nah, I’m still creating the Snoop story,” Snoop Dogg told HipHopWired in 2015. “It’s still happening as we speak…I don’t feel like I’m ready for that. I feel like I got more to do. And when I’m able to settle down and look at it and then say ‘Okay, I wanna document my life and my career and whatnot then I will do it.’ But right now, I’m loving the fact that N.W.A did they thing. I grew up a fan of theirs. And just letting they movie breathe. Letting the people enjoy their story and their success. That’s what it’s all about.”
At the time, Snoop Dogg was heavily supporting the N.W.A. 2016 biopic Straight out of Compton, which was the story of the hit gangster rap collective that spawned Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E.
