Starting August 26, for a limited time, Burger King is officially bringing back a fan favorite dessert after a 13-year hiatus: Cini Minis!
These miniature cinnamon rolls were first introduced to the menu in 1998, but were discontinued in 2012. The Cini Minis were so popular back in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s that a few years after their discontinuation, fans started petitioning on Change.org for Burger King to bring them back, according to All Recipes.
Thanks to the 6,000 fans that signed the petition, the fast food franchise briefly brought them back in 2018 by offering Cini Minis as a GrubHub exclusive.
Fast forward six years later, following a test release in Florida last year, BK made an official teaser announcement that the mini rolls are “coming soon” on X, while using the @ symbol to make hints.
All Recipes also reports that the returning Cini Minis and icing dipping sauce will be served all day, unlike the GrubHub-only exclusive deal from 2018. Customers can order them alongside a Whopper Junior, Original Chicken Sandwich, Bacon Cheeseburger, Medium Fries, 8-piece Chicken Fries, or Medium Soft Drink combo for just $5 or $7.
One user under a Reddit thread about the announcement says, “They’re back! Burger King Cini Minis® Value Price™ for a pack of 4.” While another user in response commented, “And only for 2 months don’t get used to it!”
Although some people are hyped up about the anticipated return of the Cini Minis, others on X are not too keen about it.
“Nothing new here folks, just another [crappy] product poisoning your gut,” DoopApp said.
“You better finally be bringing back the original chicken tenders… if it ain’t that, go back and try again. Respectfully,” X user Ryan Hudson said.
But the hype around the sweet treat is not the only thing getting people to talk about BK as the company is receiving backlash for firing a single mother of three, Nykia Hamilton, who went viral after running the store alone.
One other X user named Lassie Savage defended Hamilton under the BK post saying, “By the looks of this incomplete post, Nykia Hamilton was also running your social media until you fired her. Now nothing works.”
