Have it your way, literally. Now, fans can vote for their favorite whooper after Burger King has opened its first Million Dollar Whopper contest.
According to the official Burger King website, they will offer a $1,000,000 prize to one winner. To be in the running, contestants had to sign up for BK® Royal Perks and may have submitted up to three “Contest Entries” with their suggestions for a Whopper sandwich that includes between 3 to 8 toppings.
The public will be able to vote for their favorite version online. The finalist that receives the most votes will receive the $1,000,000 prize. Finalists who finish in second and third place in the voting will also receive a cash prize. The contest was announced in February when the chain restaurant invited fans to submit their ideas for the ultimate Whopper recipe.
Burger King has now chosen the three potential winners.
“After reviewing more than one million creative and mouthwatering submissions, Burger King and its team of flame-grilled experts have selected the three finalists,” Burger King said in a statement provided to Food & Wine.
Below are the three finalists for the Million Dollar Whopper sandwich creations:
- Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper: Created by Fabian of California, the Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper features a quarter-pound beef patty layered with pickle ranch, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon, and Swiss cheese all on a toasted sesame seed bun.
- Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper: Created by Calvin of California, which features a beef patty, topped with maple bourbon barbecue sauce, crispy onions and jalapeños, maple bacon seasoning, bacon, and American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.
- Mexican Street Corn Whopper: Created by Kelsie of Nebraska, features a grilled beef patty, topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, Southwest seasoned tortilla crisps, and Mexican spicy queso on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The original Whopper was introduced in 1957.
“The Million Dollar Whopper Contest was all about taking “Have It Your Way” to the next level, and we were blown away by the thought and creativity that went into the Whopper creations that were submitted,” said Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King North America. “Selecting just three finalists was no easy task, but we’re confident Guests will love these creative delicious takes on the iconic Whopper sandwich and can’t wait for them to be available in restaurants this fall.”
The burgers will be available in November at participating restaurants across the U.S.
