Costco Brings Australian Snack To Stores In The United States

Costco is finally selling Tim Tams at their stores and people can’t get enough! The Australian treat is a chocolate-coated rectangular biscuit sandwich with chocolatey cream located at its center.

There are a variety of options available in the land down under, such as a fantastic White Chocolate, delicious Chocolate Mint, and the uniquely sweet taste of Lychee and Coconut as well as even more delicious options to buy.

Tim Tam Deluxe is a thicker version of the yummy treat we all know and love with a delicious filling hidden within. The deluxe editions are Decadent Triple Chocolate, which features smooth dark chocolate, and Salted Caramel Brownie, bursting with the delicious taste of salted caramel mixed with the mouthwatering flavor of brownies.

While Americans sadly don’t have all the same flavors available to us as Australians do in their country and only have a select handful of them to choose from, that hasn’t stopped citizens from buying up the sweets en masse. The boxes cost $13.99, and each contains 11 Tim Tims in a package. 

At most other stores you’d get one of them, maybe two each if you’re stocking up, just like with any other sweet treat you’d buy at most places. However, since this is Costco we’re talking about here, people are usually buying them in bulk amounts. Oftentimes, that’s 6, or even 7 of the tasty treats.

They come in boxes of 66, meaning customers purchasing those 6-7 packs are spending $84-$100, or 396 individual biscuits, each and every time they get them off the shelves. Now that’s a lot of dough! 

There is an Australian tradition with the scrumptious snack to do what’s known as a “Tim Tam Slam,” which is somewhat similar to how we would dunk an Oreo cookie in milk.

You bite off the ends of the biscuit, and use it as a straw while drinking milk or hot chocolate. The genius of doing this is that it dissolves the center of the yummy snack into the beverage, combining the two and adding a wonderful mix of flavors to enjoy!

The Tim Tam slam is a trend so popular that it has made its way from Australia and to the US since it arrived all the way back in 2008. In fact, Kelly Clarkson even got in on it.

Australian actress Isla Fisher taught Kelly Clarkson the proper way to Tim Tam slam while they were filming on the set of the “Kelly Clarkson Show.”

While some people may be busy trying frozen yogurt,  Crumbl, or Ben and Jerry’s Honey Graham Latte I’ll be busy picking up a few of the delicious Tim Tams to try the next time I go to Costco with my family!
