Rihanna Makes Bedazzling Cool Again With Her Crop Over Festival Ensemble

Like a diamond in the sky, singer, songwriter, and businesswoman Rihanna was seen in a costume adorned with jewels from head to toe for the 2024 Crop Over Festival in Barbados on Monday, August 5th, 2024. The look was accompanied by a matching headpiece and multicolored feathers.

Fans were left speechless as videos of the Umbrella crooner’s costume have circulated on X, formerly Twitter. 

“Looking amazing as usual!,” one person wrote, while another posted, “A literal goddess.”

“MOTHER IS MOTHERING,” another person wrote.

Rihanna has attended the festival for several years now. Her last appearance was in 2019, in which she wore a hot pink minidress covered in light pink ostrich feathers coming from all directions. The look was completed with pink lace-up heels and bedazzled-covered circular sunglasses. 

Moreover, in 2015, she matched her teal headpiece with a large set of black and teal wings and even added jewels around her eyes. When she attended the festival in 2017, the pop star was accused of a Photoshop fail because she posted a picture of her carnival outfit, and it seemed as if she had an extra thumb. 

 The Crop Over Festival in Barbados is the most colorful and popular in the country. Originating in the 1780s, it was a time when Barbados was the largest producer of sugar. At the end of the season, there was always a huge celebration to mark the culmination of another successful sugar cane harvest—the Crop Over celebration.

However, as the sugar industry declined in Barbados, so did the Crop Over Festival. In the 1940s, it was terminated. However, in 1974, the festival was revived, and other elements of Barbadian culture were infused to create the extravagant event that is seen now—an extravagant event that attracts thousands of people from all over the world. 

The festival starts with the Opening Gala, ceremonial Delivery of the Last Canes, and crowning of the festival’s King and Queen—the most productive male and female cane cutters of the season.

Along with living her best life at the Crop Over Festival, Rihanna and longtime partner A$AP Rocky celebrated their youngest son Riot’s first birthday earlier this month.
