The highly anticipated show Euphoria is set to return to HBO in 2026.
The new season is said to have only eight episodes, and many key characters will not return. Characters such as Rue’s mom and sister will not be in this new season. The season will experience on-screen changes as well as off-screen changes and challenges. Jacob Elordi, one of the stars of Euphoria, who plays Nate Jacobs, the football player and the abusive love interest of Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie), revealed that the cast is filming their scenes for the third season separately.
Filming began in February 2025, although Euphoria’s third season was initially supposed to start filming in 2023. However, due to the unexpected death of star Angus Cloud and the Hollywood strikes, the show faced multiple delays.
Euphoria was one of many shows during the 2010s that skyrocketed in popularity. Each episode before season three was a trending topic on social media. Stars, who were a part of the main cast for Euphoria, launched into superstardom from being in the series, such as Sydney Sweeney, Elordi, and Zendaya.
Elordi is another example of a star launching a successful career following euphoria, he’s appeared in other projects like Priscilla where he plays Elvis Presley and taking other lead roles, such as The Kissing Booth.
According to NME, due to the success of most of the cast, getting all cast members to film one scene where they’re all together is challenging due to their hectic schedules.
Recently, Elordi spoke to Variety in depth about the situation. He states, “I was pretty busy, but I will say it’s really nice to be back. It’s been eight years or something since I started. It’s just lovely to see all the people that you’ve grown up with. It’s the same crew, the same cast.”
Also, in the interview, he was asked questions about how season three will be shown. Questions that were asked were about possible timeskips where he replied: “I really don’t know why anyone else is doing it. It’s all quite separate.”
Despite characters leaving, new people are expected to join the cast—people such as Rosalía, Marshawn, Lynch, and many more.
There’s also speculation that the third season of Euphoria could be the final season.
“We’ve talked about it. I don’t think it’s over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end,” said Head of Drama Francesco Orsi.
