Casting is now complete for the upcoming off-Broadway production of Heathers The Musical taking place at New World Stages.
Some of the actors featured in this production are Kerry Butler, who plays Ms. Fleming, Victoria’s mom, and Ben Davis, who plays Ram’s Dad, Big Bud Dean, and Coach Ripper. The two actors join other previously established actors such as Lorna Courtney, who plays Veronica, and Casey Likes as J.D. The person who plays Heather Duke is Olivia Hardy, while Elizabeth Teeter plays Heather McNamara.
“I think we’ve assembled one of the greatest casts we’ve ever had for Heathers,” Andy Fickman said in a statement. “Talk about luxury, casting! We’re over the moon to have the remarkable Kerry Butler, one of Broadway’s favorite leading ladies, as Miss Fleming and Victoria’s mom.
The statement continued: “We caught lightning in a bottle with Erin Morton as our Martha, and her take on ‘kindergarten boyfriend’ will break many hearts, Xavier McCannon, and Cade Ostermeyer are the perfect team as Ram and Kurt, and we are blessed to have two Broadway vocal powerhouses Ben Davis, and Cameron Loyal as their dads.
Syn Sider, who plays Stoner chick, and Cade Ostermeyer, who plays Kurt, were discovered at our open calls. Their talent and many others bowled us we saw during that process, whom we hope to work with in the future. In the meantime, we can’t wait to get school in session for this year‘s class of Westberg High.”
This musical has won awards, such as the What’s On Stage award. It features a book and lyrical music by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe. The musical is also based on a 1989 cult film of the same name starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. It was featured in big cities such as Los Angeles and New York about a decade ago. Director Andy Fickman revamped the version that played overseas in the UK at the Other Palace and the West End in 2018 and 2021. In just the last year, three tours also took place in the West End.
Performances will take place this summer on June 22, 2025, at New World Stages, Stage 1, and will be available to view for a limited time until September 28.
The production will have multiple properties. Gary Lloyd leads the choreography, with Stephanie Klemons providing additional choreography.
