Sabrina Carpenter is ending her biggest year to date in a big way. The 25-year-old announced her upcoming holiday special with streaming giant Netflix, which is coming out on December 6. In the promo, Carpenter is seen in no fewer than a dozen costume changes, eight special guests, and four duets. The special, A Nonsense Christmas, will feature not just songs but also comedy skits, including guest Kyle Mooney of Saturday Night Live fame.
The special also features fellow pop star Chappell Roan. Together, they will duet Christmas classics and currents and duets featuring Shania Twain, Tyla, and Kali Uchis. Carpenter released her first Christmas album titled Fruitcake in November of 2023. Featuring five original songs and a cover of White Christmas, Carpenter co-wrote the songs with a bit of humor with lyrics like “He’s a little bit older, Got a bit of a dad bod, I haven’t seen him in a while, He’s probably just busy at his workshop.”
Carpenter’s star shines just as bright as the tree topper with her impressive feats this year, including chart-topping songs like Please Please Please and the song of the summer Espresso. Her album, Short And Sweet, is her sixth studio release, and it packed a punch. All songs from that album charted higher than spot 50 on the Hot 100. Espresso peaked at number 3 and won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of the Year.
Please Please Please took the top spot as her first number one single. Most notably, her song Taste hit the charts at number 2 which gave Carpenter the honor of having her first 3 hits to land in the top 5 on the charts in the same week, a feat that had only been accomplished by The Beatles. Ultimately, Carpenter set a record by having those songs in the top 10 for 7 weeks.
Carpenter originally began her career as a Disney Channel actress, appearing on Girl Meets World from 2014 through 2017. She signed a record deal with the company and began making music. In 2023, she was given the opportunity to be the opening act for the juggernaut that is Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. Appearing in 25 shows for the superstar, Carpenter was labeled as the “pop princess of our dreams” by Swift.
Carpenter is up for 6 Grammy nominations, including Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year. The Grammy Awards ceremony takes place in February of 2025 and with a win or two, could continue to place Carpenter on the path to even bigger stardom. Also continuing her rise to fame is Roan, who is also nominated for half a dozen Grammy Awards, honoring her debut album The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess, featuring the hit Hot To Go!
