Some celebrities took to social media to speak out against the hip-hop mogul and the violence he eluded to being untrue back in December of 2023 when allegations of abuse were first brought up in a recently-settled civil lawsuit with Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura in November.
On Friday, CNN released exclusive hotel footage from 2016 of Sean “Diddy” Combs physically attacking his then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel in Los Angeles, California.
Diddy’s ex-mentee Aubrey O’Day and his biggest criticizer, 50 Cent, shaded the Revolt creator over the weekend, calling bluff on his apology video. Which doesn’t specifically direct any apologies to Cassie.
The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God has also jumped on the “not buying it” bandwagon as he gave Diddy “Donkey of The Day” on Monday’s episode. The Black Effect Podcast Network owner reserved his infamous radio segment, known for giving people the credit they deserve for being stupid, for Diddy’s apology post on Instagram on Sunday. Charlamagne told audiences he believed Diddy needed his “a** beat” for what he did in the video.
“When I saw that video, I was disgusted and disappointed. Diddy needs his a** beat,” the radio host told listeners today. “I wish Cassie would have had a gun on her and would have shot him right there on the spot.”
He continued: “That’s my initial reaction because that’s how I always feel when I see situations like this.”
Charlamagne claimed that Diddy only apologized because a tape of him physically abusing Cassie was released for all to see.
“Can’t believe anything that comes out of Diddy’s mouth,” the TV personality slammed on-air. “He’s not sorry, he’s sorry he got caught. He’s sorry that the video leaked, OK? If that video hadn’t come out, he’d still be lying right now.”
While allegations have been surfacing since November 2023, when Cassie first filed her quickly settled civil lawsuit, this is the first time Charlamagne has publicly talked about the mogul in this manner.
Prior to this Breakfast Club episode, Charlagmane expressed doubt about the truthfulness of the allegations against Diddy.
“I don’t know, man, I just don’t like it. I don’t like it because it’s sad,” the controversial host said in a podcast last month.
He added: “How many peoples’ legacies have we watched burn to the ground? From Russell Simmons, Diddy… These guys f**king provided the soundtrack to our lives. They contributed to the culture in real ways before we knew any of this shit. You have feelings, you have mixed emotions.”
