Last Friday, CNN released exclusive footage detailing Sean “Diddy” Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura in a hotel in Los Angeles, California, in 2016. This caused the rapper to issue a response that drew criticism from many, including music artists who formerly worked for him.
The hotel footage depicting Combs physically attacking Cassie as she waited for an elevator prompted the Hip Hop mogul to take to Instagram Sunday afternoon with a response.
“I was f**ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I went and sought out professional help. I’ve been going to therapy, going to rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
A certain celebrity with old ties to Diddy questioned Diddy’s sincerity.
Aubrey O’Day, a former Danity Kane member who was discovered on Diddy’s reality show Making The Band in 2005, took to X to criticize his apology the same day he released it.

“Diddy did not apologize to Cassie. He apologized to the world for seeing what he did. He says he’s ‘disgusted w himself now, and he was disgusted w himself then’.. but apparently he wasn’t disgusted enough w himself to not PIN this statement out calling her a liar & denying all of it.. leave god and mercy out of this, they aren’t present here, and you know it,” the songstress wrote on X Sunday.
Cassie filed a civil lawsuit against Diddy back in November 2023, detailing the abuse that Combs committed against her, including an incident that mirrored what occurred in the video of the hotel attack.
Combs has been refuting Cassie’s claim of his abuse towards her until now. An X post Diddy shared in December, which is pinned to this X page, read: “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday.”
Included in his statement was that he “did not do any of the awful things being alleged.” Despite Diddy’s refutement of Cassie’s claims, the lawsuit was quickly settled a day after she filed in November 2023.
The music mogul have been in hot water since the contents of the lawsuit came out and prompted more people to come forward with their own claims against Combs. But there was no response from Combs confirming or taking responsibility for those claims, until the video resurfaced a few days ago, providing physical evidence supporting Cassie’s claims of Combs abuse.
