Jacquees never ceases to amaze the public with his singing abilities, or song covers. His well-known “eee-eee” vocal runs that are so highly associated with Jacquees’ music style has not only grew his fame, but adds to him being memeable.
The latest viral Jacquees moment happened after he performed the Star Bangled Banner at a Lakers game. In full Migos-like attire, looking like he could be Quavo’s younger brother, Jacquees belted his heart out as put his own R&B twist on the national anthem.
As the self-proclaimed King of R&B, Jacquees made sure that the crowd understood his talent and why he deserved his title—thus his “EEEEeee’ing” throughout the entire song. Towards the end of Jacquees’ national anthem performance, when he hit “or the land of the freeEEEeeeEEEEeee,” it was over.
That moment exploded online, and became the most popular meme for the rest of the week. The At The Club singer’s land of the free bit became so viral that it inspired the part-time cover artist to release his own rendition of the national anthem.
On Wednesday (December 15) Jacquees dropped “Land of the Free,” a song that features rapper 2 Chainz and production by DJ iMarkkeyz—he’s responsible for making Jacquees viral moment an actual song before him.
“Land Of The Free” is now available @escapetracks oh yea and I added my Patna @2chainz too! We Lit! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👑👑👑👑🔥🔥🔥 s/o @imarkkeyz and everybody who been making this go VIRAL❤️🚀let’s go! #FYBRG #FrEEeeEe #LandOfTheFree coming to all steaming platforms asap!,” Jacquees said in an Instagram caption.
Although “Land of the Free” is a take on the national anthem, it sounds more like a trap anthem. When 2 Chainz said, “Pledge allegiance to the stars in the Rolls-Royce Cullinan/ Rose gold key, push start button/ Want something for free?/ Shit, I don’t havе free time/ Two cell phones, baby, that’s my ziplinе,” it felt as if the national anthem suddenly became cool.
