New York is officially turning 400 years old, and the city isn’t just blowing out candles, but it is taking show tunes to a whole new level.
On Sunday, September 7, at 11 am, Broadway is coming out with the hottest theater district block party with Founded By Broadway, a free, one-day-only concert.
All of the most popular performances and trending numbers known on Broadway are gonna be right in the middle of Duffy Square in New York City.
And these are show-stopping favorites from Wicked, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, MJ, Aladdin, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Juliet and many more — marking 23 productions in total.
From Hawkins to the heart of Times Square — Stranger Things: The First Shadow is switching the Demogorgons for dazzling lights.
So here at the details with this special event.
The concert runs from 11 am to 12:30 pm, rain or shine, in Duffy Square (that’s West 46th-47th Streets, between Broadway and only one New York City.”
The event itself is being called “a celebration of the energy, talent and storytelling that make this city unlike anywhere else.”
It is also the kickoff to Broadway Week, a two for one ticket bonanza across dozens of shows. Translation? Free concert now, half-price theater later.
Consider this as NYC’s way of saying, “Happy Birthday to me, but the presents are for all of you.”
So set the calendar reminder and warm up those vocal cords because any fan would be belting these popular show tunes with thousands of theater enthusiasts in the middle of Times Square.
