Samuel L. Jackson to Star in ‘Tulsa King’ Spin-Off

Samuel L. Jackson is set to lead his own Paramount+ series for Tulsa King creator Taylor Sheridan in an upcoming spin-off series titled NOLA King, written by Dave Erickson, according to sources cited by Deadline.

While making the transition from Tulsa to New Orleans, Jackson will also appear in a handful of episodes of Tulsa King’s upcoming third season before headlining and executive producing the spin-off.

Latest reports on Sheridan’s Yellowstone are circulating around Paramount, with plans for four distinct spin-off series set within the world of the hit show, according to Esquire. Stallone and the Tulsa King cast are currently filming season 3 in Atlanta and Oklahoma, while Jackson is expected to begin filming NOLA King in July.

Deadline reports that the idea for NOLA King came from Paramount Global CEO Chris McCarthy. Ever since McCarthy announced the Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, he has now seemingly been leading the successes of Yellowstone for Paramount.

Another actor to join forces with Jackson in the Tulsa King spin-off is Landman actor Andy Garcia. During an interview at the Newport Beach TV Festival, Garcia told Collider’s Aidan Kelley that he’s more than ready to pack his bags for New Orleans to start filming.

NOLA King is set to feature Jackson as a new crime boss entering Sheridan’s “morally grey sandbox of larger-than-life antiheroes and regional power struggles. It follows in the footsteps of Tulsa King, which is led by Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mobster rebuilding his criminal empire in Oklahoma after being exiled by his family.

Garcia, whose Landman role as the Galino is still a mystery, is thrilled to be a part of Sheridan’s expanded universe in Yellowstone. He tells Collider that “as an actor, to be involved in the kind of writing that he puts out is a privilege, you know. So I’m sure if he has another idea for me, I’d be happy to be a part of [it].”
