It seems that most focus falls on women’s fashion, be it clothing, accessories and even makeup. But we can’t forget about the men’s side of the closet and the goodies that are held inside.
Trends certainly fluctuate from each season and year, but classics like denim never go out of style. Typically, denim is associated with casual looks, but the upcoming new year hints at using the fabric in more dressy outfits. You may see denim in business suits with different washes and cuts.
Designers are laying different styles of denim with button-down shirts and jackets worn over it. The key to making the look fresh and stylish is to choose varying washes and textures. You may even see denim used in accessories
What used to be a somewhat comical choice in attire, may now be the norm with a fresh take on the “Canadian Tuxedo.”
Denim has been around since the 17th century so its mainstay power is proven. The term “jeans” derived from Italy when designers used the word “genoese” or genes to describe the pants worn by sailors. The pant had its birthplace in American culture when Levi Strauss and Co. released their first pair in 1860 and was used as farmhands and industrial workers’ attire.
Pop culture has had it’s hand in the iconic fabric with Britney Spears and then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake wearing matching denim at the 2001 American Music Awards. Even before their time, Hollywood legends like Elvis Presley and James Dean made the pants look cool.
Earth tones are always in style, so it’s of no surprise that dark tones of brown and green are popular. Even colors like blue and maroon are seen in clothing, giving the styles a moody vibe. Try pairing a darker color with a pop of neutral light browns to really make this trend work for you.
Embroidery is becoming more popular everywhere and we will see that in men’s clothing in 2025. This isn’t your grandmother’s stitching, this is updated and fresh takes on the crocheted designs of decades before. Beadwork and intricate designs will pop up on accessories like leather belts as well as layered pieces like jackets and scarves.
Even men like to be comfortable in their clothing and leaving room to breathe is important in clothing choices. Flowing fabrics and lightweight items are trending as we continue to see the decline in the skinny jean era.
Perhaps the least expected trend we will see in men’s clothing is “normcore.” A fairly recent development, “normcore” is a mix of normal daily wear, things that don’t necessarily stand out in a crowd with your everyday clothing choices. T-shirts, jackets and sweaters are designed with simplicity in mind, giving men something they can wear to work, to run errands and on date nights. Versatile and functional styles are the key to making this trend work for you.
