Nothing says Thanksgiving dinner like…pizza? That’s the angle Digiorno Pizza is going for this holiday season. The frozen pizza company is looking for a spot at your dinner table with their return of an all-in-one meal. You may need a fork and a knife to enjoy this concoction.
Following the novelty’s success last year, the company decided to go back to the well and re-release its pizza, which includes turkey, gravy, cranberries, and green beans. Crispy onions and mozzarella cheese, an old favorite, will also be on the pizza.
A rep for the company says they wanted to try something different, revealing, “From Friendsgiving parties to Turkey Day tables, we’re thrilled to provide a bold new way to appreciate the traditional Thanksgiving spread.” The company says they ran out of product last year after the success of the pizza, now calling it a “fan-favorite pizza.” With the popularity of the item, Americans agree there’s room at the table for pizza this November.
The novelty pizza goes for $9.99 and will be available at Kroger-owned stores starting November 1. But as grocery bills rise, this unique item may be the better choice if you’re trying to cut corners in the grocery store. Americans eat more than 46 million turkeys on Thanksgiving and spending for the holiday is over $1.2 billion.
DiGiorno isn’t the first company to use a fun schtick to boost sales. Baskin-Robbins sells turkey-shaped ice cream cakes for your dessert table and ice cream with all of the traditional Thanksgiving flavors in one scoop. They took sweet potato and spices mixed with cornbread chunks, and cranberry sauce swirls throughout. The Turkey Day Fixin’s ice cream and turkey-shaped cake will be available on November 1.
