Walmart has sold rotisserie chickens in a bag for shoppers to buy at its grocery stores for quite a while. Well now, they’re offering a new “rotisserie chicken” purses for customers to buy.
Walmart has released a new purse patterned after the bags rotisserie chickens typically come in, complete with an image of the cooked bird emblazoned on the sides.
This is a unique handbag design, and the price is $5.97 each, per People. The cost is very much an intentional decision on the company’s part, as that’s exactly how much the steaming hot rotisserie chicken in a bag typically costs.
The handbag will come in two different versions. The first of the two is a traditional “flavor”, the other being the lemon pepper variety.
This is a timely addition to their shelves, as National Chicken Month officially started this September. With the success of “The Chicken Purse,” accessories are now available for purchase. For the same $5.97, you can add a Traditional or Lemon Pepper bag charm. There are also great-value charms of Hot Sauce and Lemon Pepper seasoning for just $4 more.
This isn’t the first time Walmart has made special designs meant to capture a particular vibe for a less robust price. For instance, in 2024, the price-friendly brand offered an affordable dupe of the Hermès Birkin, which was nicknamed the Walmès Wirkin, for $79.
The handbag will only be around for National Chicken Month, making it a limited-time novelty product before vanishing completely off the shelves.
The purse would go perfectly with some Chick-fil-A. Not only are both “chicken” but both are trying to capture a certain sense of nostalgia, in a manner of speaking. Or, if Chick-Fil-A isn’t their style, there’s always Buffalo Wild Wings to pair up with their new purchase.
For what it is worth, setting aside the novelty of the idea of the design, that is a good price point for a purse, another reason that the rotisserie chicken purses are selling like hot cakes on a Saturday morning. Only time will tell how many of the shopping public get their hands on the product before the window to acquire one closes.
Thanks to Walmart, we can now experience putting our stuff in a “rotisserie chicken” that we are able to carry around while showing off some truly unique charms.
