Everyone is still stuck after watching rapper-turned-podcaster Cam’ron’s interview with CNN, where he took a sip of his sexual stimulant drink brand Pink Horse Power during his interview on NewsNight with Abby Phillip. His reasoning for taking it on-air? He was “gonna get some cheeks later.”
The Paid in Full actor’s bold comment was just one of a couple he made on CNN Monday night. Those who have tuned into Cam’ron’s in past interviews or an episode of his Is What It Is podcast know that the music star has an unfiltered mouth. Just like he does in his hip-hop records. Here are the four other moments where Killa Cam said something wild during an interview.
Killa Cam Shows Up on The O’Reilly Factor
It’s safe to say this interview isn’t all on Cam, as former Fox host Bill O’Reilly had intentions to stereotype the Purple Haze rapper on his now-canceled show, the O’Reilly Factor. In the 2003 interview, O’Reilly opened the interview by introducing him as someone “who raps about pimpin’ and b**ches,” as a way to demonize the rapper subtly. The big personality rose to the occasion by giving the news anchor what he wanted during a heated debate about whether he should hold some moral responsibility for the music he creates on-air.
Cam quietly sits back and allows OReilly, and another male guest, who was also on the show, to grill him on his assumed responsibility to kids when making his music. When he finally replies, he stated, “I’m a reporter. You don’t get mad at the reporter for reporting the news.” His ironic comparison leaves O’Reilly stuck.
Cam’ron Told Anderson Cooper He’s Not Down With Snitchin’
The 2007 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper proved Cam had a cap to his code-switching when he told Cooper he does not believe in snitching.
During their sitdown, Cooper questioned Cam about contacting the authorities, asking him if he believed “there was any situation” where the rapper “thought it was okay to talk to the police.” With a straight face, the It is What It Is podcast host looked Cooper in the eyes and explained that it was only okay to talk to the police to greet them but not report crimes from his perspective.
“The type of business I’m in, it would hurt my business, and the way that I was raised, I just don’t do that,” Killa Cam said.
Cooper then revised his question, asking Cam’ron if he would go to the police if he a “serial killer lived next door to him,” to see if he’d bend on his answer.
The Harlem native doubled down, not budging one bit.
“If I knew the serial killer was living next to me, I wouldn’t call and tell nobody on them, but I’d probably move…but I’m not putting the signs up, ‘The serial killer’s in 4E,'” Cam’ron confessed. Shortly after the interview aired, he apologized for his comments, further explaining why he believed in not running to the police in a statement released in 2007.
Cam Recalls a Tense Moment With Legendary Actor Laurence Fishburne
Cam’ron recalls the one time he got into an altercation with the Matrix star Laurence Fishburne on an episode of Revolt’s Drink Champs in 2021.
“If you call him Larry he loses his mind he don’t like to be called Larry,” he explained, referencing Fishburne.
Cam reveals on the podcast that his friend, who was with him then, continued antagonizing Fishburne by calling him Larry. Adding context, Cam’ron explained why Fishburne took issue with being called Larry.
“His name was Larry when he was young, but then after Higher Learning, he changed it to Laurence,” Cam said. “I guess Larry is wild and n-word-ery.”
The room laughs as Cam’Ron recalls attempting to de-escalate the encounter with Fishburne and his friend, but the Boyz n the Hood actor is not trying to hear it.
