Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and his eccentric dream pop star wife Grimes are on the verge of calling it quits. After spending three years of their lives together in a relationship, the peculiar couple are now splitting up—sorta.
On September 24 (Friday) Elon Musk confirmed that he and Grimes are ending the relationship, explaining that they’re only “semi-separated.”
“We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” Musk told Page Six. “It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.” Back in May of 2020 Musk and Grimes welcomed their beautiful son X Æ A-Xii.
It is great that the perfectly odd pair were able to healthily uncouple, and still cohabitate in the same household. The split between the 50-year-old SpaceX Founder and the 33-year-old Canadian singer seems somewhat abrupt, being that the two attended the 2021 Met Gala and Met Gala afterparty together.
A look back at the couple’s Twitter exchanges in 2020, however, indirectly reveals an underlying tension within their relationship. Although Grimes has defended Musk on social media, and called him out, their conflicting viewpoints were evident in some of their social media exchanges.
The reasons for their “semi” separation could be endless, but at least it’s amicable and their on “great terms”—according to Musk. Grimes has yet to speak about her split with Musk, however Twitter has quite a bit to say about it.
“Poor grimes. she named her child A-12, after a CIA military intelligence plane that was used in the genocidal vietnam war, to bond with that deranged freak elon musk, and it was all for nothing,” someone tweeted.
