Megan Fox & MGK Aren’t This Gen’s Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton

There have been many Hollywood couples throughout history, but only a handful have been dubbed iconic. Among the few beloved famous couples that fans have stanned over the years, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton’s rockstar-esque 2000’s marriage is one that has been continuously admired and mourned. 

While they’re famous Hollywood couples of today that receive much love and the label of #couplesgoals, like Rihanna & A$AP Rocky, they’re some that have been shaded for displaying “try-hard” behavior. Megan Fox and MGK have become that shaded couple after their appearance at the 2021 VMA’s.

Despite many fans rooting for Fox and MGK, considering them to be this generation’s Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton, many fans feel that they’re overzealously trying to emulate Jolie and Thornton. 

“Machine Gun Kelly and Megan fox give of Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton blood in a vial necklace kinda love and and I am here for it x,” one person tweeted, supporting the couple. Another person tweeted, “They’re trying to recreate angelina Jolie and billie Bob Thornton back in the day and they’re doing the tacky version x.”

The opinions of these couples are split between those who are happy that MGK & Fox are so reminiscent of Jolie & Thornton’s 2000-2003 relationship, and those who prefer the real thing.

“When I said I wanted Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton to get back together, this is not what I fucking meant…” one person tweeted. They continued their tweet with, “Saw someone say these couples are like ordering Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton off of Wish & now I can’t even look at them…, referring to Kourtney Kardashian’s & Travis Barker’s relationship also. 

Over 20 years later, and Jolie &Thornton’s badass three year marriage is still the topic of conversation, earning the title of #couplesgoals ‘TIL THIS DAY! Fox and MGK are cute, but Jolie & Thornton were ICONIC. Jolie & Thornton are the blueprint, and although MGK and Fox relationship is daring, it’s nowhere comparable to Thornton and Jolie’s relationship.
