Starbucks New Apple Crisp Macchiato Is The Newest Challenger For Their Pumpkin Spice

Apple Crisp Macchiato

Move over pumpkin spice, apple crisp is here and has the potential to become the new favorite flavor of the fall season. Today (August 24) Starbucks debuted their newest latte option, the Apple Crisp Macchiato. Since its release the new apple themed drink has amassed a major buzz, and is now the latest hot topic in the foodie community.

A writer from PopSugar even willingly served as a guinea pig for the new Starbucks macchiato, objectively evaluating the appley coffee drink in comparison to their MVP Pumpkin Spice Latte. I also hurried to the nearest Starbucks to try the Apple Crisp Macchiato so I could give my honest review, and help encourage die-hard pumpkin spice drinkers to switch up their seasonal coffee.

When I took the first sip of the macchiato I was immediately hit with a dose of brown sugary tastiness that mimicked the flavor of a hot apple pie. There could’ve been a bit more of the “caramelized-spiced apple drizzle” —per the menu ingredients—added to the Apple Crisp Macchiato to intensify the sweetness though.

If you enjoy apple pie, Pie à la Mode or just enjoy apples in general, then the Starbucks Apple Crisp drink is definitely for you.

“The Apple Crisp Macchiato merges the flavor of several red apple varieties together and also includes apple juice, apple puree, cinnamon and nutmeg,” according to USA Today.

It’s not a coincidence that Starbucks latest beverage includes the same ingredients that are in an all-American apple pie. Nothing screams the fall season and holidays like apple pies, hence Starbucks busting out their apple infused macchiato just before Thanksgiving.

With the Apple Crisp Macchiato added to the menu it is plausible that Starbucks may have a challenger for their yearly top seasonal drink, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Since 2003 the Pumpkin Spice Latte —which can be prepared either hot or cold— has been sold approximately 500 million times, and is Starbucks best-selling seasonal drink of all time, according to QSR Magazine.

Could Starbucks Apple Crisp Macchiato compete with their Pumpkin Spice Latte? Only time will tell! Comment below if you’re team #PSL or #AppleCrispMacchiato.
