Teyana Taylor, a multi-hyphenated star, claimed her first Golden Globe with a bold fashion statement.
At the 2026 83rd Golden Globe Award Ceremony on Sunday night, Taylor, 35, achieved a great milestone in her multifaceted career.
The actress, Grammy-nominated singer, and dancer, took home her first-ever Golden Globe, for Best Supporting Actress, for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills “One Battle After Another.”
Taylor was up against illustrious actresses like Ariana Grande (“Wicked: For Good”), Emily Blunt (“The Smashing Machine”), Amy Madigan (“Weapons”), and “Sentimental Value” stars Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.
“I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I was [going to win],” said Taylor.
Overcome with emotion, Taylor thanked God, her family, and the “One Battle After Another” crew for her honor.
Taylor also dedicated her speech to the Brown sisters and the little young Brown girls watching at home.
“Our softness is not a liability,” Taylor said. “Our light does not need permission to shine. We boring in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dream deserves space.”
In addition to Taylor’s memorable win of her first Golden Globe, Taylor once again proved she is a fashion icon.
Taylor delivered one of the evening’s most stunning red carpet moments in a custom Schiaparelli floor-length gown, featuring bold cutouts and a diamond-encrusted bow placed over a bedazzled thong.
Simple in black yet defined by bold cutouts, the dress playfully nods to an early 2000s trend, especially with the blinged-out “whale tail,” which is a fashion look defined as exposed thong straps over low-rise bottoms.
While many praised Taylor’s bold Schiaparelli gown, the daring look also challenged and sparked some debate online. While others admired Taylor’s look, some viewers questioned the design of the dress’s back, particularly the diamond-encrusted bow placed over a bedazzled thong.
On Reddit, one fan commented, “She can pretty much pull off anything, but I’m not loving a butt cutout for the Golden Globes,” while another agreed, adding, “It’s such an elevated look until she turns around.”
Released in September 2025, “One Battle After Another” is an American black comedy-action thriller film written, co-produced, and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film stars notable actors and actresses like Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Wood Harris, and Tony Goldwyn, alongside Taylor.
The film grossed an income of $206.1 million worldwide, won best picture at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards, and at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, the film led with three wins for best screenwriter (Anderson), best ensemble, and best supporting actress (Hall).
Nonetheless, Taylor’s historic win marked a defining moment in her evolution as both an artist and cultural force. Whether through her performance, words, or fashion, Taylor is a growing influence in both Hollywood and fashion.
