Wendy’s has become the latest fast food chain to follow the trend of adding new items to its menu. Currently, chicken tenders are available, competing with other fast food chains, such as McDonald’s.
Just a few months prior, McDonald’s released its chicken tenders on the menu, dubbed the McCrispy Strips, accompanied by its own sauce, called Creamy Chili Dip.
Dubbed the “Wendy’s Tendys”, Wendy’s chicken tenders are available in three-piece, four-piece, and two-piece orders, with the two-piece order considered a kids’ meal. Along with the chicken tenders, Wendy’s offers improved sauces, as well as two new ones: Wendy’s signature creamy ranch, honey, barbecue, sweet chili, scorching hot, and honey mustard.
“Wendy’s TDs is crafted using the highest quality ingredients, including 100% white meat, coated in light crispy and flavorful breading,” Wendy’s Interim CEO Kenneth Cook said during a call on August 8.
During the call, he also discussed the sauces, referring to them as “modernized and improved,” and spoke confidently about the reception. “Our Tendies and sauces are fantastic, and I’m confident our customers will love them too,” Cook said.
Lindsay Radkoski, the Chief Marketing Officer at the Wendy’s company, also spoke on the chicken tenders.
“Customers told us what they wanted in a chicken tender, and we listened, tasted, tested, fine-tuned, and delivered, with six bowls, new sauces fans can dip, dunk, and customize their tendies with every bite,” Lindsay said.
Wendy’s now joins the multiple fast food chains that are upping their chicken meals on their menus. One example of a popular chicken-style meal is, of course, the chicken wrap, available on Popeyes, Taco Bell, Sonic, Wendy’s, and McDonald’s menus.
“Chicken innovation is in our DNA at Wendy’s, and we’ve tapped into our years of chicken experience to craft our new Wendy’s Tendys,” Radkoski said.
Becky Davis, Vice President of Global Culinary Innovation, also discussed the upcoming tenders. “ Wendy’s new tendys are bold, juicy, and crispy paired with a lineup of new sauces that deliver a uniquely Wendy’s experience for fans in every bite,” said Davis.
Other things that have been added to the Wendy’s menu as of late are the Frosty Frights, boo, and Books. As Halloween approaches quickly, Wendy’s has unveiled its Halloween menu, which includes a Frosty Fright kids’ meal featuring four nuggets or a hamburger/cheeseburger, accompanied by fries or apple slices as a side.
Another accessory is the Wendy’s Boo Book which is available for one dollar on the Wendy’s mobile app which consist of free coupons and a two dollar kids meal coupon that are valid until December 31.
