Gracie Abrams is a renowned American songwriter highly praised for her music and songwriting. She has written songs such as Close to You. I Miss You, I’m Sorry, I Love You, I’m Sorry, and Us. With Close to You, being one of her most popular songs to date.
She has released over five different albums within the past four years. Her albums Minor, This is What it Feels Like, Good Riddance, and Good Riddance (Deluxe), have been well-received, yielding her a solid fan base.
“Abrams has also gained so much fame and popularity because she has not tried to reinvent the wheel.” Jenna Howell from Music Monday stated.
Just last year, in December 2024, Abrams announced that she would return to North America this summer for a tour. On July 24, she performed in Boston, with another concert being in Toronto, Canada. After her stop in Canada, she will circle back around New York City, where there is a bit of controversy.
Recently three girls from Sweden took to X to meet Abrams for her show in New York. They claimed that, they were international fans, and were flying from Sweden to New York, but they didn’t have concert tickets to see Abrams. One of the three girls took to social media and stated the following.
“Hello! Me, my sister and our best friend are flying overseas from Sweden to New York for the deluxe shows, and we are still ticketless. If there’s anything you can do about it, we will be thrilled. @graciehq @rolemodel,” said the fan.
This tweet blew up instantly with over millions views and many likes, with other fans supporting their quest.
“Keep an eye on StubHub the ticket prices keep going down,” said one fan giving advice.
Another fan offered their tickets in Boston as an alternative. Fellow Gracie Abrams fans seem to be willing to help the trio until others started questioning their situation.
“ I am confused you paying for a plane ticket to go to a show, you don’t have a ticket to?” one fan wrote.
“I’m sorry, but just because you’re choosing to waste your own money on plane tickets doesn’t mean you’re more deserving than anyone else,” another fan commented.
Soon, fans started digging deeper into the account and realized that the international fans already had tickets for the LA show, leaving people to question their story even more.
“I’m just confused if you have tickets to the LA shows, why are you asking for free ones for a different show? No hate, genuine confusion because people are acting like you’re just going there to go,” another person wrote.
Soon after the backlash, the user double down on their story and claim that people are way too upset over something that doesn’t affect them.
“Wow I didn’t know me hopping on a plane what caused this much distress to people how are you so pressed over something that literally doesn’t affect you at all,” the user wrote.
As of right now, despite the situation going viral, there’s no update on whether the user receives tickets or not. Abrams and her team have not responded.
