The New Year is almost here and everyone is trying to figure out how to end 2024 with a bang–maybe even better than Starbucks seasonal Christmas drinks. If anyone plans to celebrate with a party, a small social gathering, or alone time, here are some fun cocktail recipes to try out.
Before proceeding, one thing to note is that recipes can be made quickly or prepared in a large batch ahead of time, according to David Ruiz–a California-based owner and operator at Stillwater, Junior, Souvenir, and Voyage Wines. Keep this in mind while going through the list of recipes.
Champagne Cocktail
Add 1 sugar cube or 1 teaspoon of sugar into a flute. After that, put four dashes of Angostura bitters on top, gently muddle, then top it with 4 ounces of chilled sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Aspen Sparkle
Pour 1 ounce of elderflower liqueur into a flute or coupe glass, top it with five ounces of chilled sparkling wine, and garnish with a lemon twist.
Kir Royale
Pour 1 ounce of Créme de cassis into a flute or coupe glass, top it with 5 ounces of the sparkling wine and garnish with fresh raspberries or a lemon twist.
Negroni Sbagliato
Add 1 ounce of aperitivo or bitter liqueur, 1 ounce of sweet vermouth, and 1 ounce of chilled sparkling wine into a large cocktail mixing glass with partial ice. Stir vigorously for 30 seconds, then strain into a rocks glass with partial ice. Garnish with an orange twist to finish it off.
Alpine Glow Margarita
Mix 2 ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, and one ounce of pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker with partial ice. Shake it then strain into a rocks glass with any choice of ice amount. Garnish with fresh rosemary.
Gimlet
In a cocktail shaker with partial ice, add 2 ounces of London Dry gin, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, and ¾ ounce of simple syrup. Shake then strain into a coupe or Nick and Nora glass. Garnish with a lime twist.
Daiquiri
Add 2 ounces of white rum, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, and ¾ ounce of simple syrup in a standard partial-iced cocktail shaker—strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with a lime twist.
Snowfall Sour
Add 2 ounces of bourbon, ¾ ounce of fresh lemon juice, and ¾ ounce of maple syrup. Strain into a rocks glass then garnish with a thin lemon wheel and freshly grated nutmeg.
Godfather
All that is needed for this classic is 2 ounces of Scotch whiskey and ½ ounce of Amaretto. Stir gently then garnish with an orange twist.
B and B (Benedictine and Brandy)
Stir 1 ounce of herbal liqueur and 1 ounce of brandy in a rocks glass with partial ice, then garnish with a lemon peel.
Goodnight JB
Add 2 ounces of reposado tequila, ½ ounce of hazelnut liqueur, and ½ ounce of spice liqueur to stir well, then strain into a rocks glass with ice.
50/50 Martini
The ingredients for the last suggested cocktail are 1 ½ ounces of vodka or gin and 1 ½ ounces of white vermouth. Stir vigorously for 30 seconds, then strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
