Here are some hot new skincare trends to try for the New Year.
Avid beauty lovers probably want to develop a better skincare routine for their New Year’s resolutions. From biotechnology to exosomes, there are different new skincare methods to choose from that may be exciting for people to try.
Biotechnology is popular in the beauty community, thanks to brands such as Reome, Bioeffect, and K18. It is known to be more sustainable than harvesting natural ingredients the traditional way. Products to try include Reome’s Active Recovery Broth, a bio-ferment serum that works like a probiotic by treating inflammation and keeping the skin healthy. There is also The Ordinary’s Ascorbyl Tertraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F, which has a lab-made oil-based form of Vitamin C called ascorbyl tertraisopalmitate and it doesn’t irritate the skin compared to other forms of Vitamin C, according to Refinery29.
Then there is the treatment of skin disorders that addresses the intertwined health between the mind and skin called psychodermatology. Effective management of skin conditions using such treatment requires consideration of associated psychosocial factors, according to the National Library of Medicine.
Another skincare trend to look into is one used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries called facial acupuncture, which studies suggest contains skin-rejuvenating properties. Facial acupuncture involves inserting needles into certain areas of the face to improve circulation, stimulate collagen production, and give the skin a youthful glow.
Speaking of skin rejuvenation, exosome-based treatments can do the trick by making the skin more natural-looking. Dr. Colette Haydon, dermapharmacist and founder of Lixirskin, explains that exosomes are tiny particles extracted from plant cells that act like microscopic messengers to get other cells to rejuvenate.
Next to biotechnology is AI-driven diagnostics, which many websites like Dr. Ourian’s offer a virtual skincare analysis where patients can answer questions before receiving a personalized list of products through email. In an interview with Refinery29, Dr. Ourian said he “noticed a shift towards skincare routines based on AI recommendations, with products and procedures tailored to individual skin types and concerns.”
Lastly, one other skincare trend to try is post-ink aftercare, typically for tattoo fixtures but still does wonders for the skin. Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker created a line of cannabinoid-infused skincare called Barker Wellness Co. Significant products to look into with Barker’s brand include the Tattoo Aftercare Duo, a balm and cream with soothing helychrysum oil and redness-reducing bisabolol to protect the skin during the healing process.
With the suggested variety of skincare methods to try, hopefully, these will find beauty lovers well and ready for the New Year. This goes to show that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when beauty and self-care go hand-in-hand.
