More than a decade after airing, a video of Taylor Swift on The Rachel Ray Show is making its way through the internet.
The clip shows Swift, who was 21 at the time, talking with Ray about her choice for a prom date. “It would be a group, and it would be a really fun group,” Swift says as she pulls photos of Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Sheryl Crow, and Justin Timberlake. Rounding out her imagined prom group is a photo of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
She explains further after Ray asks why she chose that specific group of people. “Diddy’s really always been very nice to me. He would be fun to be in the prom group, ” Swift says. Ray responds, “He’s a gentleman, isn’t he? A lovely gentleman.”
Combs is currently in a New York jail after he was arrested in mid-September for racketeering and sex trafficking charges. The entire episode featured Swift with surprise fan makeovers, meet and greets and questions from Ray. She asks the soon-to-be-superstar about possible duet partner, with Swift answering without hesitation, Bono from U2. Ray also asks who Swift who would make a good skydiving partner. Swift grabs the photo of country icon Reba McEntire saying, “Because I would chicken out and she’d be like, come on now.”
A question and answer session brought a sweet moment when a smitten young man in the audience gathered the nerve to ask Swift to marry him. Towards the end of her show, as she did in every episode, Ray went to her stage kitchen to make one of her easy dinner meals. Swift did not join the celebrity chef in the kitchen.
The Rachel Ray Show aired for 17 seasons beginning in 2006. Her likable, “girl next door” vibe mixed with her trademark 30 Minute Meals endeared her to audiences. She was discovered by talk show icon Oprah Winfrey and her production company Harpo Productions picked up the show which earned 3 Emmy Awards. Besides her cooking empire, Ray has a cookware line which includes pots and pans, stir fry sets and more. She also has a pet food line called Nutrish which includes food for cats and dogs as well as treats.
Ray’s health has been a concern for fans as recent videos show her slurring her words. Ray addressed her weight gain as a result of a few injuries which prevented her from her usual exercise and activities. She and her husband of nearly 20 years made recent news with the admission that they experience fights like any other couple, but they don’t subscribe to the notion of making up. “I don’t know that we ever apologize to each other.”
Ray just recently began a new podcast called I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead. The second episode airs on October 29 and will feature actor Billy Crudup.
