Jamie Foxx drops a major bomb while onstage during a filming for his upcoming Netflix special. According to Media Take Out, Foxx was in the middle of a comedy set when he told the audience, “Diddy was responsible for my stroke.”
The audience half-heartedly laughed, waiting for the punchline, but Foxx didn’t let up that he was joking about Diddy. Giving the audience a dead-pan look, Foxx continued with his set. His stand-up special will be titled, What Had Really Happened Was, and will air next month. It is a compilation of several performances throughout Los Angeles, California.
Foxx, 56, spent weeks in the hospital after the medical complication struck him in April 2023. He was in the midst of filming a new movie with his co-star Cameron Diaz when he suddenly began suffering from headaches. Trying over-the-counter meds to help the discomfort only helped for a while, but a few weeks later, Foxx was left with no memory of what happened from then on. Foxx even had trouble walking. He wasn’t seen in public for over three months and spoke of his long recovery, saying, “I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery has some potholes as well, but I’m coming back.”
At the beginning of this month, Foxx was onstage in Atlanta for a three-night stand-up and again addressed his illness.
“When people ask me is this a comedy show I say no it’s an artistic explanation,” he said. “Of something that went terribly wrong, but thanks to the great people in Atlanta and especially Piedmont Hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most.”
His performance of One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx featured only Foxx onstage as he returned to the town in which he fell ill. Foxx took the stage of the Alliance Theater, his first performance in 18 months.
Foxx posted the caption with two photos, one showing him wiping tears from his eyes, in gratitude to his “second chance.” Celebrities have commented on the emotional post, such as fellow comedian Martin Lawrence, who wrote, “Much love brotha,” and Kevin Hart, who remarked, “Love you man!!! Can’t wait to see it.” Other stars sending their support included Busta Rhymes, John Legend, and DL Hughley.
A celebrity bodyguard recently claimed that Diddy drugged Foxx also. In the interview with Cam Capone news, bodyguard Big Homie CC, he claims Foxx reported Diddy to the FBI because of the alleged incident. He says, “These people poisoned people bro. If you get called to testify, if you’re on camera with some of this footage and you wanna make it a little bit easier for yourself, there’s ways in this industry people go about doing things.” ACHDA Digital Media Generation has reached out to Diddy’s camp for comment, but we have yet to hear back.
Foxx and Diddy were once friends, both having hosted extravagant parties and mingled amongst the same celebrity crowds. A business deal gone bad seemingly ended the friendship. Foxx has not been connected to Diddy’s sex parties and racketeering allegations. He is currently in jail being held without bond in New York. He was arrested on September 16 and his trial starts May 2025.
