With a simple flash of her shiny emerald engagement on her ring finger, Dakota Johnson shut down breakup rumors with fiancé Chris Martin.
Paparazzi photographed Dakota Johnson, 34, in Malibu, California, with co-stars Blake Lee and Jeremy Allen White and his two daughters, Ezer, 5, and Dolores, 3, who are Dakota Johnson’s godchildren. When she held up her hand to the camera, her stunning emerald engagement ring was spotted on her left ring finger.
A rep from Dakota Johnon’s team told E! News on August 16 that the breakup rumors about Dakota Johnson and Martin were “not true,” adding, “They are happily together.” Rumors of the couple’s separation began to swirl when a source told the Daily Mail that they have “accepted the relationship is over-and it’s best to move on.”
However, the couple was rumored to have had a brief split in 2019, although they never confirmed the reports. The pair has been together since October 2017 at a sushi restaurant In Los Angeles where they were seen be “cozy, laughing and affectionate,” and remained private about their relationship since then.
They were seen out on more dates around the city in early 2018 including a dinner with friends at Soho House in Malibu. It wasn’t until Autumn 2018 at the Stella McCartney Collection show in LA that the couple made their first public appearance. Throughout the years, Dakota Johnson had repeatedly been photographed dancing at Coldplay concerts.
Dakota Johnson was recently 6,000 miles away from Martin who is in Munich, Germany, and is currently continuing the European stretch of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour. Johnson is the daughter of Don Johnson, 74, and Melanie Griffith, 67. The Coldplay lead singer “conscious uncoupled” with actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow in March of 2014 after ten years of marriage.
The couple shares two children, Apple 20, and Moses 18. Martin was reportedly in an on-and-off relationship with actress Annabelle Wallis before officially splitting in August 2017.
In an interview with Bustle that was published in March, Dakota Johnson spoke about starting a family one day.
“If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m totally down for it. I’ve been really tripping out recently like, we’re not here for very long. There’s so much to eat up and learn and grow from and experience and feel,” she told the news outlet. Johnson added, “If I’m meant to be a mother, bring it on.”
Dakota Johnson embraces her role as the stepmom to Chris Martin and Gweneth Paltrow’s children, Apple and Moses.
“I love those kids like my life depends on it,” she told Bustle. “With all my heart.”
