Hayden Panettiere, the 36-year-old famous actress and singer, passed away on Sunday.
She was found in cardiac arrest before her death, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office said in a press release Monday. Paramedics responded to a 911 call and gave life-support measures, but they were ultimately unsuccessful in their efforts.
Panettiere’s representative confirmed her death to ABC News on Sunday, saying an investigation into her death is still “ongoing.”
As expected, her family has asked for some privacy during this very sensitive period, with her father, Skip Panettiere saying, “[A]s our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.”
Panettiere had been best known for her role in Remember the Titans as well as the hit TV series Heroes. She had made it no secret that being a star since she was a very young child had brought along its fair share of emotional baggage. Her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, which was released on May 19, detailed her struggles with being in the spotlight for so many years of her unfortunately short life.
In the past, she had suffered from “[P]ostpartum depression, addiction and recovery, trauma, domestic abuse, and loss,” according to the book she had written.
Her daughter, Kaya Klitschko, her only child, has been left motherless due to the unfortunate passing of Panettiere. The 12-year-old was born in 2014 with her ex-fiancé, heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
In 2022, she went on Good Morning America, where she opened up about the problems that she had dealt with, “I didn’t know where the alcoholism was ending and the postpartum was beginning.”
Like many celebrities, she admitted to needing a break. In her interview with the network, “The years before were very difficult for me, too. And I just needed a break.”
During an interview with People, she talked about the sadness of having lost her brother. “I will never be able to get over it,” she told them. “No matter how many years go by, I will never get over his loss.”
She was just five days away from turning 37-years-old. Panettiere’s passing will be mourned by their multitude of fans, who had enjoyed their performances, like other beloved and cherished celebrities that had graced the world.
Given the nature of both Panettiere’s and her brother’s heart-related deaths, speculation has grown about whether this was caused by, or contributed to, the cardiac arrest that ultimately took her life.
Until the coroner’s office officially confirms the exact circumstances that are surrounding her untimely demise, speculation about whether or not this was the case hangs over it like a cloud.
