Last year was a whirlwind, full of iconic memes, good food, trends, and vacation destinations. With the year finally wrapping up, 2026 is finally on the horizon. Along with new goals and resolutions, here are some popular destination spots to visit throughout the New Year.

1. London

One of the top vacation destinations making its rounds on social media is London, United Kingdom. London is known as the largest city in both England and the United Kingdom. They are known for their famous vacation packages and fabulous green spaces. Other picture-perfect locations within the capital are the British Museum and the Tower of London.

2. Hong Kong

Now, second on our list, located east of Asia, we have Hong Kong. Known for its iconic views, Victoria Peak and the Peak Tram are great for photos and city views. Next, we have the Avenue of the Stars, which pays tribute to former film stars. Hong Kong is also known for its rich culture and entertainment, including the Temple Street Night Market and the West Kowloon Cultural District.

3. New York

New York City is one of the most popular and well-known cities, not only in the USA, but in the entire world. New York City offers a multitude of attractions, including the Big Apple, Times Square, the famous Statue of Liberty, and world-renowned food and music.

New York is an ideal travel destination for 2026 because it has a mix of every season. Known for its beautiful winters and comfortable summers. New York can potentially be a travel favorite.

4. Tokyo

At number four, taking us back to Asia, we have Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world and is very rich in culture. Tokyo offers Hello Kitty World, spectacular anime, traditional Japanese wear, and mindless Adventure. Some iconic landmarks in Tokyo include Shibuya Crossing, often compared to New York’s Times Square.

5. Italy

Now, a little bit more on the romantic side. Italy is also a top travel destination of 2026, mainly due to the big three: Rome, Venice, and Florence. These cities are known as Italy’s top tourist spots. Not only does Italy have the beautiful Amalfi Coast, but it also has vibrant, colorful cities. Italy is known for its rich history, spectacular art, movies, and great food, such as pasta, pizza, gelato, and wine.

6. Lake Placid, New York

Now here is a criminally underrated vacation spot. At our number six spot, we have Lake Placid, a famous year-round resort located in the New York Mountains. When people think of New York, they often think of the Big Apple, but here at the lake, it has a year-round summer and famously hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. This place offers the Olympic Museum, mountain adventures, and skiing. Another fun fact about this place is that there is a second location located in Florida, which also has lakes and citrus.

7. Zanzibar, Tanzania

At our number seven, Spot, it takes us straight to Africa, and we have Zanzibar. Known for its spice farms and as a historically well-known spice town. Zanzibar is also known for its tropical climate year-round. The country is also home to beautiful beaches, such as Nungwi Beach, Mnemba Island, and others. Overall, Zanzibar is a cultural blend of African, Persian, European, and Arab lifestyles.

8. Dublin

For our eighth spot, we have Dublin, Ireland. Dublin is the capital of Ireland and is located on the East Coast of the country. It was originally a Viking settlement and is the city’s prime theme. Things to do in this city include the literary pub crawl, visiting Dublin Castle, and visiting Howth, a famous fishing village. Dublin city is a good walking destination and a good place to learn about history.

9. South Africa

In our nice spot, we have South Africa. Earlier in this list, we mentioned Zanzibar. But here, let’s visit an underrated part of Africa. South Africa consists of Johannesburg and Cape Town. People view South Africa as an ideal travel destination due to. It’s wildlife, it’s fabulous cities, and scenic routes. People often describe their food as nothing but brilliant. South Africa is also a place with famous wine tastings. This rainbow nation is a good place for those who love safaris and animals.

10. Athens, Greece

Now, for our final place on the list, we have a travel destination within budget. Athens is a vibrant city located in Greece. It has good landmarks and attractions, such as the Acropolis, the National Geographic Museum, and the Panathenaic Museum, where they hosted the modern Olympics in 1896. Athens is a good place to learn about history. Try out excellent cuisine, and it’s really good for the budget since hotels don’t cost as much as in previous entries.
