8 hairstyles for the summer/Photo credit: Unsplash
With July closing out and August on its heels, we’re right in the heat of summer. With fireworks, barbecues, blockbuster movies, and cool drinks, there’s nothing like a summer vibe.
Despite these vibes, there’s still an off chance of challenges. In this blistering heat, a common problem is finding comfort, especially with clothing and hair. According to hairstylists, this problem is now solved with eight ways to style your hair up this summer, ensuring comfort and photo-readiness.
8. Chic Claw Clip Updo
“I love throwing my hair up in a claw clip while having a bunch of hair spilling over messily on top,” stated Sky Kim. Kim is a celebrity hairstylist. She continues to say that, “it’s seemingly effortless. It brings out a playfulness while being sexy.”
Other hairstylists such as Stephanie Angelone agree, saying, “Half up, half down is one of my favorite ways to wear a claw clip. It’s an easy way to amp up your hair when you’re unsure of what style you’re going for.”
7. A Sleek, Slicked-back bun
“It’s the kind of style that instantly elevates any look, whether you’re heading to a beach wedding or just want to look put together for errands,” said Leo Izquierdo, Co-founder of IGK Hair. “The clean silhouette frames the face beautifully and holds up well in the heat.”
6. A Stylish Braided “Medusa” ponytail
“I love putting my hair up in a ponytail braid. It has a powerful essence to it. Well, not taking too much time,” Kim said. Izquierdo recommended keeping this hairstyle intact in the sun for hours. “A sleek braided ponytail gives a sporty chick vibe that stays intact even hours in the sun.” He stated.
5. A Ponytail with extra texture or volume
“This one’s a favorite because of its quick flattering and has that effortless cool girl vibe,” Says Andi Asmaro. Amsaro also recommends upgrading a regular ponytail and adding a bit of texture.
According to Asmaro, to create this, you make your part, then lock the hair back to secure it into a ponytail. You then finish it off by adding a curling iron to add loose curls.
4. An Elegant French Twist
Ashley Streicher adores this style, especially in summertime, because “it’s especially great on worn or dirty hair from summer swims and adventures. Natural texture holds this style in place, and the low placement on the back of the nape gives natural height at the crown.”
According to Ashley, to achieve this hairstyle, you should part your hair to one side and hold it in a small ponytail just a little bit below the ear. She instructs you to begin by twisting the ponytail upward, moving it towards the center of the head, allowing your hair to fold naturally into itself, creating a French braid twist.
3. 90s-Inspired Tousled and Pinned-Updo
With this style being a more detailed version of the claw clip style, Madison Clifford, loves this effortless style for summertime, “is such a trendy look right now because it feels feminine and sexy.”
Curl your hair within a 1.5-inch barrel and set your bangs through a Velcro roller to achieve this look. Then, tie your hair and pin it up to finish with some hairspray.
2. An Accessory-Adorned Ponytail Updo
To make your ponytail more vibrant, add an accessory to the horn ponytail. Some examples could be adding a barrette or a simple hair tie with a lot of vibrant colors.
1. A romantic crown braid
To end this list, we have the romantic crown braid. Izquierdo says that braids can be effortless and romantic. Romina Naimov recommends starting with any product to add texture and hold your hair, then braid both sides of your hair around the crown.
