Starbucks is making significant changes to its menu, phasing out several beverages while introducing new options.
Although it’s not the first time the brand has removed things off their menu, this is the first time that the coffee-focused brand has disrupted so many flavors. Effective March 4, the company will remove a selection of drinks that are “not commonly purchased, can be complex to make, or are similar to other beverages on our menu,” according to a statement shared with PEOPLE.
The decision involves cutting approximately 30% of current offerings. In the quarter one 2025 earnings call, CEO Brian Niccol emphasized the importance of this shift, stating, “we’ve taken steps to refocus the business, our mission, and our marketing to better align with our identity as a coffee company.” He added, “We have to clear the noise out both in food and beverage menus. That opens the odor for better innovation that will hopefully resonate even more so for our customers.”
Starbucks also seems to be taking a stand to remain a health focused brand. Many would bemoan the change, such as user @Richflux on Twitter stating a simple: “Starbucks!” with a list of all of the listed drinks that will be soon enough removed. Those beverages are:
- Iced Matcha Lemonade
- Espresso Frappuccino
- Caffe Vanilla Frappuccino
- Java Chip Frappuccino
- White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino
- Frappuccino Crème Blended Beverages
- White Hot Chocolate
- Royal English Breakfast Latte
- Honey Almond Milk Flat White
While these drinks will no longer be available, Starbucks notes that customers can still enjoy similar flavors through alternative options. This is also Starbucks showing that they will remain one of the top brands for fast food, as they’ve affected other coffee brands such as Dunkin’ Donuts.
For example, the Green Tea Lemonade offers a taste profile comparable to that of the Iced Matcha Lemonade, while a standard Hot Chocolate can be customized with White Chocolate Mocha sauce to mimic the discontinued White-Hot Chocolate.
In addition to these removals, Starbucks is introducing several new beverages to its menu:
- Iced Lavender Cream Oat milk Matcha
- Iced Lavender Oat Milk Latte
- Iced Cherry Chai
A new savory option, the Jalapeno Chicken Pocket, will also be available at participating locations. These additions join the recently launched Starbucks Cortado, a bold espresso made with three ristretto shots.
This menu update is part of a broader series of initiative aimed at improving the Starbucks experience. Other recent changes include the return of free refills for in-store customers, the reintroduction of condiment bars, and a policy requiring purchases for restroom access.
