Beyonce’s NFL Halftime performance on Christmas Day went out hard with a bang everyone was talking – she was joined by several artists including Shaboozey and Post Malone.
But that will never go without some people nit-picking to complain, especially Beyonce’s eldest daughter Blue Ivy, who joined her in a mother-daughter duo of Texas Hold ‘Em.
Tina Knowles reposted a user’s Instagram post days after Christmas that read, “No matter how undeniably talented you are, people will always, ALWAYS, always have some negative [things] to say.” Agreeing with the post, she expressed her thoughts coming to her daughter’s defense.
“My sentiments exactly! It is mind-boggling to me that you would take your precious Christmas day and watch a performance of someone you hate and you don’t think has talent so that you can go talk [bad] about it later,” Knowles said in the caption.
Knowles also called out the trolls for deciding to watch the halftime performance in the first place.
“Obviously you are so obsessed with them, addicted to them, and secretly admire them, wish you could be them, that you cannot help but to watch and critique and comment and say dumb ridiculous stuff that makes you look like a joke!!” Knowles continued.
She encouraged haters to move on next time and jokingly adds they watch “goofy cartoons or Bozo the Clown” instead.
“I have learned so much from her warrior spirit, of when they go low, I work harder,” Knowles says while quoting Isaiah 54:7. “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
Aside from the typical behavior of online haters, Beyonce went to great lengths to put on what some Beyhive fans say is her best performance by far. Even the New York Times calls it “a stunning ‘Cowboy Carter’ showcase”.
“It’s only right that we had to do ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ for the first time in Houston, Texas, on Christmas,” Beyonce told the crowd during the staged performance.
The significant theme of the performance is reimagining country music and Southern culture as the album “Cowboy Carter” was born out of an experience that Beyonce had many years ago where she did not feel welcomed in the country subspace. This Christmas, she made sure that everyone felt welcomed in her world of country music.
Tying back to her mom’s defense against the online trolls, this goes to show that people from the country subspace and beyond will always find a way to negatively nit-pick things as a way to hate and gatekeep their subspaces. Although trolls will continue to hate, the welcome train Beyonce created for her fans to enjoy country music will never stop.
Netflix’s first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday is now available for streaming as Beyonce Bowl.
