Linkin Park Is Back With New Music, A New Lead Singer, and Tour

After a seven-year hiatus and the death of lead vocalist Chester Bennington, rock band Linkin Park is back with a new lineup and new band members.

On Thursday, the rock band announced via a livestream that vocalist Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara and new drummer Colin Brittian, who has worked with artists like G Flip and One OK Rock, have recently joined the band. Returning members are Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn. Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong share vocal duties.

“This is a very special day for us,” Mike Shinoda said during the livestream. She mentioned that guitarist Alex Feder was filling in for Delson for the night. “In the role of Chester Bennington this afternoon is each of you,” Shinoda said to the crowd.

Additionally, the new lineup launched into a new single, The Emptiness Machine, at the top of the stream. Which will be the lead single for their upcoming album, From Zero.

“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created,” Mike Shinoda said in a statement. “We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”

According to Billboard, Linkin Park is one of the most successful rock groups from the 2000s, having sold more than 29.4 million albums in the United States, according to Luminate. The band has 24 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including three top 10 hits: “In the End” in 2003, “What I’ve Done” in 2007 and “New Divide” in 2009.

Since then, Linkin Park has had several re-releases, including 20th-anniversary editions of Hybrid Theory, Meteora and, this year, Papercuts.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking,”  Mike Shinoda said in a statement announcing the upcoming release.

The band has also up to 37.2 million U.S. song downloads and a combined 11.6 billion official on-demand U.S. streams. It has also charted six No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, including One More Light, which debuted on May 17, 2017.

From Zero will be released on November 15. It marks the band’s first full-length release since One More Light, which was released shortly before lead vocalist Chester Bennington’s death in July 2017. The From Zero World Tour presale begins Friday, September 6, at 10 a.m. ET. The presale is open to Linkin Park Underground members.

General on-sale begins Saturday, September 7 at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster.

The tour kicks off on Wednesday, September 11.
