In a recent interview with Elon Musk on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, former president Donald Trump compared Vice President Kamala Harris to his wife Melania.
In his comments during the interview, he referenced a photo of her on the cover of TIME Magazine.
“I saw a picture of her on the cover of Time Magazine today. She looks like the most beautiful actress ever to live. It was a drawing,” the ex-POTUS said. “She looked very much like a great first lady, Melania. She didn’t look like Kamala, but she’s a very beautiful woman, and we’ll just leave it at that, right.”
Trump is well known for his rhetoric of publicly defaming political opponents, lawmakers, judges, media reporters, and anyone he considers a foe. However, for unknown reasons, in his interview with billionaire X owner Musk, he adamantly eluded to praising the physical appearance of Harris more than once.
“This is not the type of rhetoric or tone that’s going to turn on voters, especially those in key undivided swing states who want a president who is looking out for them, a president who is putting their interest first,” Adrienne Elrod Senior Spokesperson for the Harris-Walz Campaign said of Trump’s comments about Harris.
As of Tuesday evening, there have been no reports of Harris responding to the comments made by the Republican Presidential nominee for the second time in recent years. However, it is likely the current Vice President will make candid remarks about his comments at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, which is set to begin on August 19. Harris and her running mate, former Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz, will officially be nominated as the Democratic Party’s nominees.
Despite Trump’s charming compliments about Harris’s appearance, it won’t surprise anyone familiar with his political antics that he completely does a 360-degree turn from giving her nice compliments to demeaning her character, ethnic origin, and political incompetencies. In other words, it’s not a matter of if but a matter of when.
With only 83 days until the presidential election, recent polls have shown Vice President Harris with a slight lead over Trump in key battleground states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. According to Time Magazine, seven states will decide the upcoming election.
