Dive into the Waves of Emotion: All About ‘Beaches the Musical’

I don’t know about you, but I remember watching the 1988 movie Beaches growing up. The two primary characters’, Cecilia Carol “C.C.” Bloom and Hillary Whitney, love for each other still has the power to take my breath away. If you have had a similar response to the movie, then get ready to break out your tissues once again. Your emotions will be on deck when you take in the Beaches the Musical after it premieres this spring.

Broadway powerhouses Kelli Barrett and Jessica Vosk promise to deliver on the emotionally captivating nature of this story in a way that promises to have you getting teary-eyed! Based on the emotionally captivating novel Beaches by Iris Rainer Dart and the movingly iconic film adaptation starring Bette Midler as C.C. and Barbara Hershey as Hillary, Beaches the Musical follows the heartwarming story of two people unlikely to form a friendship – Cee Cee Bloom and Bertie White.

The story is set against the energetic backdrops of New York and Atlantic City and will explore the nuanced nature of the women’s bond as they navigate their lives separately and together. Barrett, known for her work in Wicked as Nessarose and as Lara Guishar in Doctor Zhivago, plays the main role of Cee Cee Bloom in this production. Starring opposite Barrett is Vosk, who is praised for her enchanting performance of Elphaba in Wicked. Vosk will step into the role of Bertie. It is safe to say that she will channel the sense of resilience and vulnerability in her portrayal of Bertie, capturing how the character navigates the challenges that come to her in friendship and love.
