London’s most famous Paddington the Bear is going to be in Paddington the Musical!
Earlier this month at the Savoy Theater, a trailer was released giving a first look at Paddington The Musical. The production is being played by offstage performer and remote puppeteer James Hameed and onstage performer Arti Shah.
Originally adapted from the popular children’s books written by Michael Bond and the award-winning films by STUDIOCANAL.
Michael Bond’s “A Bear Called Paddington” was first published in 1958, the first of 29 books he was to write. With his final book, “Paddington at St. Paul’s,” published remastered in 2018. The books itself sold over 35 million copies worldwide. It was even translated into over 30 languages!
And Paddington is not just a popular British fictional character. He is so famous that he became a stuffed Paddington toy. This toy was chosen as the first to symbolize an expression of friendship. This started by the British tunnellers back when the Channel Tunnel was created in 1994. His whole outfit made him second most popular, next to Winnie The Pooh.
The cast who will be starring this will be Amy Booth-Steel as Lady Sloane, Tarinn Callender as Grant, Timi Akinyosade as Tony, Delilah Bennett-Cardy as Judy Brown, Amy Ellen Richardson as Mrs. Brown, and Adrian Der Gregorian as Mr. Brown, Tom Edden as Mr. Curry, Brenda Edwards as Tanya, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Millicent Clyde, Teddy Kempner as Mr. Gruber, and Bonnie Langford as Mrs. Bird.
Paddington The Musical will have its first opening night on November 30th.
People’s reactions to X have been nothing but wholesome when the pictures of Paddington came out recently.
One user, lizetteratura on X said, “I have not stopped thinking about the Paddington stage puppet since the musical came out, I would die for him.”
Users have shared videos and photos of the beloved bear, revealing how realistic-looking it is. Is it possible Paddington is actually real? Just kidding.
It’s safe to say that Paddington will be here to stay. Paddington has multiple appearances on television such as Paddington (2014), Paddington 2 (2017), Paddington in Peru (2024). All three films had ratings that proved how much love is put into this character. It has big screenings with HeyDay Films. Paddington seems to hold a special place in people’s hearts. The new musical is coming out soon.
