Kendrick Lamar Leads Nominations At 2025 BET Awards

With the 2025 BET Awards just weeks away, airing Monday, June 9, at 8 p.m., Black Entertainment Television has released this year’s nominees.

Once again, Kendrick Lamar is making waves. Following a notable year of success, including winning multiple Grammys and recently performing at the Super Bowl, the D.N.A. rapper finds more nominations at BET.

So far, he tops everybody with 10 nominatations, including album of the year for his most recent project GNX.

Other artists receiving nominations are SZA, an alt-R&B superstar, and the Weeknd. Both received a total of four nominations, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.

Residuals artist, Chris Brown was nominated in three categories including viewers choice for his hit single, “Residuals”. This song in particular appeared in his award-winning album 11:11 (Deluxe).

This year’s BET Awards are hosted by Kevin Hart, a well-known comedian. The award ceremony will take place in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theatre. What’s significant about this year’s ceremony is that it’s the 25th anniversary of Culture’s biggest night and the anniversary of 106 & Park.

At the award ceremony, a 106 & Park reunion will honor the notable, iconic music video countdown show’s legacy. Former hosts such as AJ & Free, Terrence J, Rocsi, Julissa, and Keshia Chante will be honored. This tribute includes Amerie, B2K, Bow Wow, Mya, T.I., and more performances.

“106 and Park was more than just a music countdown show; It was the heartbeat of Black youth culture, and one of the highest-rated BET programs for over a decade,” says President and CEO of BET, Scott Mills. “From freestyle Friday to unforgettable live performances, it launched careers, influenced fashion, and became a platform where voices, style, and sound converged. 106 and Park both celebrated and fueled many of the most important musical and cultural evolutions that occurred during its two-and-a-half-decade tenure.”

We are thrilled to commemorate 25 years of this iconic series at this year’s BET Awards.”
