B5 Claims Their Disney Deal Was ‘Shut Down’ Because Of Diddy

B5 was a musical group that emerged in the early 2000s—consisting of Dustin Michaels, Bryan Jesse, Patrick Owen, Carnell Fredick, and Alley Allen Breeding.

The group released two albums, their self-titled debut and their sophomore album, Don’t Talk, on Diddy’s label Bad Boy Records. All I Do, U Got Me, and Teacher’s Pet are some of their most well-known songs.

B5 was introduced to the R&B landscape around 2005 by rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Despite working with Diddy on producing their two albums, the group blames Diddy for their failure to reach stardom.

In an exclusive interview with HipHopWired, the R&B group discussed their experiences working with Diddy.

During the interview, it was revealed that Diddy possibly sabotaged a deal with the Disney Channel. One claim they made was that Disney offered them a show.

That’s So Raven, High School Musical, and Hannah Montana are prime examples of musical groups with Disney credit. At the time, they had nine songs that would dominate Disney’s radio. The company allegedly offered B5 a TV show because of this. To get the move in action, the group had to sign with Disney’s Hollywood Records.

However, the offer eventually fell through, and it soon went to The Jonas Brothers. B5 claimed that Diddy and Bad Boy Records would have to release them to join Hollywood and secure the TV deal.

“Disney had a show idea locked in for us, but Bad Boy Kinda shut it down,” B5 said in the interview.

Things didn’t go smoothly when Bad Boys offered a high amount to release B5 to Disney.

“Puffy wanted a certain amount of dollars for that, which Hollywood wasn’t like, ‘Aye, that a big check, we can use all of that over here,” said B5. “The show, the idea that we ended up creating with them, was switched to another group. And they broke the TV show, blew up, and that was The Jonas Brothers.”

Diddy is facing legal drama and hasn’t responded to B5’s claim. Diddy’s trial is on May 5, and the group commented on that. They made claims that the rap mogul groomed and abused them under his label.

Despite the situation, the R&B group continues to perform at concerts throughout the United States. They also released some solo projects and some new Eps in 2025, titled Still Think About You.
